    windows wont boot

Hi all i just finished helping a friend with his Toshiba Satellite W7 LAPTOP.formatted the drive a installed new windows, because it would not boot up no matter what,
every thing going good like new until today when they inserted a game angry birds and the system froze.I'm trying a repair disc but i get as far as the language option and change to united kingdom goes to the next screen and freezes, also iv tried safe mode but goes so far and then just stops.
im now trieing to boot mini xp but get so far and it says the drive is not ready for use,its door may be open. Please check drive/device/harddisk0/dro and make sure that a disk is inserted and the drive door is closed.

u need to look at temperatures it could be the gfx card is over heating but could also be a bad driver
try installing the latest version of ur gfx driver
and do all the windows updates including netframe work updates and try running the game again after

Download Advanced System Care. It's free. Then run it to check for problems and see what happens.
There's lote of usefull free progs on IO Bit.
I think you have something running in the backgroud. Formating doesn't always get rid of Spyware or a Virus.
Presume you have an antivirus and antispyware prog(s) running?
There's Spybot & Spyware Blaster both free and AVG antivirus also free.

                Disk diagnostic tool

Sounds more like a HDD problem, unless you had some problems in the future with it, you'll need replacement, but before that do a HDD diagnostic test with MHDD from HDDGURU, you have an *.iso image there to boot from.

download hirens boot CD and boot into mini xp from that. Just ensure the boot sequence is your cd drive first. If it fails to boot remove disk drive and try again. It should boot without disk drive. If it fails again reseat memory and cd drive. If it still fails then you have a bios/hardware prob on mobo.

                            Definately HDD related problem.

It could either need a new HDD or a new motherboard.

HDD's break all of the time. they are constantly spinning at thousands of revolutions per minute. Eventually it will get worn out and either break instantly, or slowly cause niggly problems until it eventually breaks.

It could also be your motherboard. More specifically the IO section that connects to your HDD. it could be causing the same symtoms as a faulty HDD, but replacing the HDD will not fix the problem.

                            you have 2 options:

                            1) Replace the Hard drive and hope that is what is faulty.

                            2) investigate further by putting the HDD into another laptop and reinstalling windows. Run it for a few hours and see if it freezes. If it works in the other laptop, it is the motherboard. If the freezing follows the HDD, replace it.

As I said earlier run hirens boot cd and run diags to the hdd there are loads of tests built in including surface tests so you will know if your HDD is at fault. it will also check the i/o interface. Takes about an hour to run but you will know one way or the other. I do this for a living and use that tool all the time downloadable just google hirens boot cd
