    update failed

    Have a problem with a dell inspiron 15r 0S W7 ;wont update and sometimes gives a pop up saying windows might not be genuine so i go to validate windows it says its not a valid copy of windows.it say there is missing files or corrupted files that windows needs to operate properly.it is a valid copy as its the one that came with the pc.iv gone to the Microsoft site and downloaded fix's but none have worked.please need help with this one.

        if u bought it pre installed then u should have a serial key sticker somewhere on ur laptop
        once u have found the key go to my computer and click the tab 'system properties' then scroll to the bottom and im not sure on this bit there should be a big thumbnail in the corner try clicking that or find where in that section u can change the product key
        it might just say it in a blue text where product key would normally be shown

        also what version of win7 do u have and does ur key match ur current version?

        downloading that loader is the alternative if u cant find ur product key

        the only other thing maybe u could do is back up all your info and do a factory reset

        better 1 to try first put ur win7 disc in and boot it up and go for the repair this might fix it

          Got it sorted i ran check disk it fixed the update problem,downloaded the updates and that fixed the windows genuine problem.
