          Re: wipe drive

Please post make and model of your laptop

Can you see the hard drive when it comes to selecting a destination or is there nothing there at all?

It's not a SATA issue as the details for that laptop show an IDE drive.

What settings did you use for the format?

Does the XP install give you an option to create primary partition?

When I format a drive I always delete any partitions listed, create a new primary partition, then format in NTFS.

If you don't create a primary partition it's like having a carrier bag with no bottom. Whatever you try to put in it, just falls out.
