internet losing connection after reboot, either have to update driver or roll back driver. this happens every time i boot up, just bought new tower and had to load my own opp system, win xp pro. could this be the prob .checked lan settings and everything seems to be ok.

Have you checked that you are getting an IP and DNS address from your DHCP server? 'ipconfig /all' from a command prompt will tell you. Also, try 'ping bbc.co.uk'.. If everythings ok you should get a ping response from 212.58.254.252? Can you ping your default gateway?Comment

hello,fearghost.have done a ping test with those settings everything ok i can also add i can retrieve connection to internet by disconnecting usb from tower then replacing , but if i shutdown then reboot i loose connection and have to perform same action again. this has only occured since i bought a new tower and loaded xp pro not the same disk that i had on my old system with which i had no probs.Comment

first of all thanks for taking time to help me with this prob, i contacted virgin broadband they informed me that my usb connection on my motorola surfboard modem is prob causing the fault and advised me to replace with a ethernet cable. will get back to you with outcome of action.Comment

thanks everybody for helping me eliminate any software probs you were all a big help in this , fearghost, the prob was my usb connection from pc to modem apparently this is a common prob , replaced with ethernet cable and now all is ok.Comment
