    laptop keep crashing

could my lappy be seriously ~~~~ed??

    i have a toshiba L350 17" laptop with 250gig HDD and 2gig ram.

i havent changed any components since i've had it, ie. memory etc.

but on a good day it crashes at least 3 times and on a bad day....~~~~ me need my fingers and toes to count , but for some reason it seems to do it more when i use firefox??

it has done this since nearly day one, although it seems to be getting worse now, i've tried bios upgrade, chipset firmware upgrade etc, tried vista, windows7 and now back to XP pro SP3, and xp seems to be the worst yet.

i just feel like binning it and getting a new one

    you could try the following

Use the event viewer to find out what is causing the crashes.

    1.Click Start
    2.Click Control Panel
    3. Click System and Maintenance
    4. Click Administrative Tools
    5. Double-Click Event Viewer.
    6. Under Windows logs, Click System tab
    7. Check for red errors icons and the exclamation icons.

What do you mean crashes? What exactly happens?

Blue flash then reboots? If so your getting a bsod, you will need the stop code then google it. To keep the bsod on, do the following:
Right click My Computer/Click advanced system settings/Start up recovery settings/Under system failure/uncheck automatically restart.

If its over heating freezing, could well have too much dust over heat sinks, strip down and clean.

As you have installed numerous operating systems, my guess is going to be hardware related so you will need the stop code.

As stated check the event logs too.

      Run/enentvwr.msc

doesnt get the blue screen of death or anything, just freezes and wont respond or open any thing, if i'm on the net using mozilla that just goes all white and gets (not responding) message along the top of it.

strangely it hasnt crashed since i started using google chrome earlier today.

@dasteph there was a fair few errors in there m8 i'll install screenhunter later on and post some pics of them m8

having looked at the error code and note you have had various os on your pc and still getting the same error occurring it seems to be a hardware problem,
as you are using xp at the moment i take it you have updated to service pack 3 if not update then try the following.......<Start/Run> type in chkdsk /r (Enter)...start there to see if there are problems with the file system on your hd.

i tried what you said and it popped up and said it NTFS and cant access it, would i like to schedule the scan for next reboot press Y/N.

so i pressed yes and when i restarted it it went straight to the chksdk and took about 2 hours but never said anything when it finished?

Reboot lappy with windows cd in, boot from it.
Enter recovery console and log into current instalation
                      Type chkdsk /r

Will do a full scan of hard drive mate.

The hard drive could be on its way out, or the connections, how old is the laptop?

collect what info you can about the errors, send it back and tell them you want it replacing.

With you having 3 operating systems on there i seriously doubt its software related.

done that mate and it didnt give any info on errors, all it said was

" CHKDSK found and fixed one or more errors on the volume "

that was the only thing it said on errors the rest was just allocation size and free disc space.

would say vista or 7 give info on the errors if i was to put one of them back on?

No because your deleting the info, maybe sending it back with as much info as when the crashes occur, i/we cant diagnose this without having the machine.

Send it back telling them what you have posted and copy down numbers from chsis se if you get same back
