Nevovx, i have never EVER known a computer to run slow because of photo's & music on it? its almost like saying the computer will run slow if you have microsoft office on it or anything else on your computer other than windows? sorry fella i have to TOTALLY dis-agree with you on that one.

a good system cleaner will do, general clear out of crap on your machine, pretty much what everone else has said, cookies etc & i would advise keeping an eye on what your installing buddy, we have all done it in the past where you get a new bit of software or downloaded some software & hit the "Next" button right the way through without un-checking the little box that says "keep this ticked if you want to install the famous spyware tool bar" haha .. even i have done it & thought.. Grrrr have to trace the install of & un-install it again!

Ryan, while I like some of the advice, some is akin to the help Pilot gave the great man,in all probability you have a P C like us all, just basic with the bare minimum of all that we should have masses of but fiscallly we are fortunate to have anything at all,Reve uninstaller will allow you to stop all running programmes that are not needed and will delete all rubbish that is left after uninstalling any programmes,Baku will help sort out any rubbish on your P C and Window Washer will also help they are all freebies try them they have helped me also get an external drive and save any downloads onto it so saving your internal Hard-drive,another freebie AVG is an excellant protection, hope this helps Enjoy

There are various simple things such as de-fragmentation or clearing your cookies which may help. Try this article from Microsoft on 5 ways to speed up your computer - microsoft.com/atwork/getstarted/speed.mspx

If your computer works very slow you must format your hard disk and install Windows...

                  slow pc

get a prog called System mechanidc pro, its a great wee bit of stuff, also if u are using norton I personally would dump it for something ,always found it slowed things up, Sys Mechanis will doo most things to get u up faster at the click of a button, ucan even dload a trial version at Iola

The easiest way to speed it up would be to take it step by step to clear it out.
                      - Anti virus scan (any anti-virus software works fine)
                      - Delete any programs you don't use, they are just taking up space.
                      - You could take it to a computer specialist who will clear it out and speed it up super fast.
                      - Or get the speed up my pc program - it works

9 out of ten times this due to crap installed/malware

1 give it a malwarebytes full scan
2 run ccleaner or glary utls to clean up the crap, whislt in one of these clean up what programs startup with windows and turn off whatn you do not need eg updaters phone software etc etc
3 if slow on the net uninstall toolbars

tbh a defrag helps a touch but not that much that it needs to be done every month, a few times a year is enough for most pplm unless your constantly installing/uninstalling move or deleting data.

I agree with cunny, what part is slow?

How much ram have you got, this IS the first step to make any pc faster = for all we know you might be running windows 95 with 32meg of ram thus making all the above suggestions non-applicable although they are all correct for improving speed

how much room do u have left on ur c drive??

the first trick of buy a new computer is to partition ur hdd so that u can save all ur music photos vids apps etc... into this new partition and stop clogging up the C: drive

windows likes free hdd space to allow the system to move quicker/move things quicker
                                almost acting like ram
