Aslong as you have an ethernet cable access to the interent and driver genius it wont be that bad

If the PC only slows down when connected to the internet (e.g. downloading), what anti-virus are you using?hi mate sorry to jump in on you /im running a pc windows xp proffesional amd althron 64 prosser 3000+958mb nivida g force 6100 wen down loading etc its running slow i can up grade to 4gb in memory would that resolve the speed problem thanks any info to help me much appreiceted
How much RAM do you currently have installed? Assuming your XP Pro install is the 32bit version (as most of them were) then, with a 958MB GFx card, you're only going to see 3.14GB at most anyway.
Reinstalling windows and drivers, then applying the service packs and hotfixes, before other software (e.g. office packages) can help wonders. If you don't fancy reinstalling windows, give the system a quick clean-up; empty the "recycle bin" and use CCleaner or Advance SystemCare to get rid of temp files. A defrag may help too.
Check your temps using SpeedFan or Speccy. Dust traps heat, heat causes the system to throttle back.
Also check how full your C: drive is. The more full the boot drive the slower it works - especially if everything is in the user accounts as Windows looks in these folders on each boot.Last edited by little pob; 21 March, 2011, 21:19.Comment
