If your talking about the Bios password there are normally two on a Dell laptop.
1st.
is a password on the hard drive which locks the drive & there aint no way around that as far as i know & your better off putting it in the bin & getting another hard drive. as i searched to the ends of google and a shit load of websites myself as i had the same problem.
2nd.
is the Bios password.. this is a tricky one but can be done.. its not a easy task but shear determination & alot of patience got me through doing my XPS. you will need a tool to do this as you cannot do this, as it cant be done with any software. PM me and ill explain what you need to do on this one.

Hey folks. Been messing with computers since dos days. Really not too good anymore what with all advancements. Don't read/write code. Use windows (yuck) pretty good. Love music and Muscle Cars. Built a 1956 Ford F150 with a 390 and you know...burn rubber.
Brother really the computer wiz. He has Parkinson really bad and also dementia and is sadly in a home. Mom still alive and worried.
I have a Dell Latitude 630d of his that I have tried (endlessly) with Dell Transfer to get keys for. To no avail after trying trying. Went online and got a key for the Bios password and it worked. you guessed it...hit a hard drive password request. again...yuck!
Would someone take pity on a rapidly blithering idiot (ie me) and give me a hand?
Whoohoo! I'm in!!! It's running chkdsk right now. Can I keep using those passwords or do I need to change something? Thank you! Nothing seems to have been going easy since brother ended up in VA and then pvt facility. Thanks for helping.
"And the beat goes on." etc Got past the Bios password. Got past the Hard Drive password. Went through chkdsk. Re-booted fine and (of course) User Name and Password. I know I'm beginning to sound dumb. I've cracked these before, but right now I'm just burnt out. I put the left overs from dinner last night in a container to take to work today. Did I put it in the frig. Noooo. I put it in the cupboard where the clean dishes go and that's where I found it this morning. Soo need a break.
Anyway, if you can suggest a simple way to go one (or a hard one is fine) it would be again appreciated. Using XP Pro.
Thanks
k
