Thanks smoggy will do. I clicked on unlock in the BIOS security section and entered the code, however, it did not accept it. I entered upper and lower case characters etc. as per the code. No joy i'm afraid - if you have any other suggestions i would be glad to hear them, thanks again

1st is a zero 3rd & 7th are lower case o for one 6th is upper case O for Oscar etc. etc.
also try pressing CTRL + Enter after entering password
EDIT : I also calculated it using 2nd of your tag as a zero (is that correct or is it upper case O)Last edited by smoggy; 11 January, 2013, 12:05.Comment

A great thread! Have a Dell D630 with this tag:
70PL83J-595B
(2nd ist zero - last is J as Juliett)
If I can get a password for the security in the bios it would be greatly appreciated!

Hi smoggy, thanks again for you time...and patience.
Looks like I quoted the tag incorrectly; it was G42HYF1-595B. Strangely enough I updated the BIOS to A18 to see if it would clear it and now my service tag is G42HYF1-3A5B.
Please send another code to try! Cheers,Comment
