well we went out and got a new mobo, processor, and ram.
changed it from pentium 4 to AMD athlon II dual core processor.
Pieced it back together and it seems to be running ok except one problem.
when the computer boots up there is a pop up saying that it has been logged into a temporary profile and all things done will be deleted when the system shuts down.
What causes this? will it need to be formatted as this is the same HDD that was formatted on the intel machinePS3= krazylegz120282

Once you've changed the guts of a pc, you would be best reformatting the drive, installing windows again. Personally i would do this right away, least then you know where your at in terms of software and instalations. Also all drivers will be deleted if any loaded from the previous systemwell we went out and got a new mobo, processor, and ram.

Many motherboards have a utility in Bios to monitor various temperatures, fan speeds and voltages.
There are programs which run in windows which will monitor various items on the motherboard e.g. Fan speeds, voltages and temperatures.
In my overclocking days I swore by "Motherboard Monitor" which was very good and was Freeware, unfortunately it is no longer being developed by its creator although it is still available for download from various freeware software sites.
ASUS had their own motherboard monitoring software which was provided on the mobo driver disk.
"Speedfan" is an excellent monitoring program with many options.
Another one is "Core Temp" but I am not familiar with this one.
All these programs run from within the windows environment so there is no need to boot to the bios screen.Comment

a) it's quicker to look at bios as there is 'no' operating system to boot up
b) if you have problems, then it's nice to have it on good auterity, not from some flea bitten programme.
c) MSI do a programme, 'fuzzy logic' and '?????? 4' but there are pants

Hi Meat-Head,
Wasn't looking for an argument, just suggesting a windows program may be more convenient for some people as getting into bios can be a little tricky if you can't remember which key to press or you aren't quick enough.Comment

I hope you find one.
And Yes I also think KL did the right thing and I hope he got it working properly but it would have been nice to have found out what was actually wrong with it - I hate mysteries.

OFF TOPIC, BUT PARTLY RELVENT:
At M-H-M the office computer would be fine up untill 4pm, where it would just die, no warning. (not sure if restarted or not)
the psu and hdd was recycled (ONCE only the bios coundn't see the drives, but they worked' so the motherboard got blamed.
the processer is/was a 3.2ghz AMD (By mercedes?) and binned the boared saved the memory and procseeer.
stuck the processer (using now as we speak) into a 1300cc computer, shows 1100cc, rather than the 3200cc (whatever i do cars).
one out of evevry 7 boots ups, hdd (all 3 of them c:= 3gb) mo monitor output, turn off, cold start no problems, never crashed!
odd
