hi folks,
wonder if someone could help,
a friends given me a laptop to fix, basically it won't power up, checked the power supply that seems to be fine,
tried a different PS that that won't charge the battery or power the laptop either.
Have tried removing the memory for 30 seconds and a couple of other tricks but still nothing no sound of anything kicking in either.
I'm thinking the laptop is a gonner and not worth economical repair so i'm just trying to recover the data from the hard drive.
The laptop is a Dell inspiron 510m, HDD is a WD 400 Scorpio Enhanced IDE Hard drive (s/n: wxe305283491), I've got a IDE/Sata adaptor and have brought a 2.5-inch to 3.5-inch IDE Hard Drive Cable Adapter, but this doesn't fit the hard drive,
the HDD is a 44 pin female connection, but male pins on the adapter is a 40 pin, and the pins are too thick to match up to the HDD.
I've had a shop around and can't find the appropriate adapter,
could anyone point me in the right direction?
any help appreciated
cheers
