    Strange PC problems

    Hi

    I'm running windows XP Pro. ver. 2002 + sp3
    An AMD Athlon 7750 Dual-core processor on a Biostar motherboard and 2.87 ( 3 ) GB ram

Everything was going alright until I did an update with AVG which messed everything up. Since then I've done a secure erase of that half of my hard drive ( it's split into two drives ) and done a reinstall of everything. windows , now useing avast anti virus free version and I have malaware installed as well.

Whats been happening is strange , when I turn on sometimes it will load up normally , other times it will restart - for no reason - sometimes it goes to a blue screen and does a memory dump .Yesterday I had a couple of things pop up - error , could not find macromedia flash , and something connected to soffice.bin. Another problem is I use aol as my isp and have been useing them for over 10 years with no probs. , however since the reinstal it updated to their new aol desktop ( useing internet express ) which has benn freezeing after 10 - 15 minutes of use. Firefox has also been ' encountering a problem and can't load ' on occasion

I've run avast and malaware but found nothing and after reading some posts on another forum I thought I'd try the speedfan program . this is the result -

    Reduced: 47% of original size [ 640 x 480 ] - Click to view full image

Not quite sure what it means but the fans I have are 1 on the cpu , 1 on the front of the pc box , 1 on the power supply , and 1 on the rear of the pc box.

Started the pc today and had these pop up -

    went thru xp screen
    went thru blue welcome screen
    desktop came up then
generic host process for win32 service has encountered a problem and will shut down
    avast not loading
googleupdate.exe - application instruction at 0x7c910a19 reference memory at 0x00000000
task bar changed from blue to biege
abode acrobat speed launcher fialed to load
At this time I went thru start button and restarted pc , it has now restarted and is running as its supposed to with no problems.

Can anyone come up with an answer as to whats happening , how to sort it - I would have thought doing a reinstall most of this shouldn't be happening.

    Thanks , Adam

This is very simple and straight forward. Just download the code form the following link and run it and that's all to solve or fix the problem "Generic Host Process For Win32 Services Encountered A Problem and needs to close."

(Download Generic Host Process Error Removal Tool)

By following any of the above method, you can easily solve the problem Generic Host Process For Win32 Services Encountered A Problem and needs to close. If you face any problem, then put the problem in the comment section .just googled and came up with this give it a try.

Sounds like AVG has dropped a driver onto your PC that's not fully compatible with your XPpro or network setup.

My choice would be to format & start again. It will be quicker in the long run.

On another note... nice wallpaper. Where can I swipe, I mean, download it from?

All you should of done is restore your computer to the time before VGA update and the problem would of been solved.

Unfortunately Windoze XP is quite susceptible to viruses and other malware due to the age. If I was in your position I would try to backup anything you can't afford to loose (maybe re-partition your primary drive to a smaller size leaving more room for backup) and reinstall windows. If your machine can handle it, there is always the option of a new version of windows and the included security tools.

Have you run the AVG uninstall cleaner program? not sure what its exactly called! But most AV when you uninstall them its not enough afterwards these little programs will remove the remain of the AVG then I guess fault will be fixed. Its the same with avast, norton etc

                Hi

I did try to restore at the time but no joy ( for some reason ) I also tried the avg uninstall but I've still got the problem - TBH I'm losing track of what I've tried.

Today I did a chkdsk which show'd some probs and repaired them but it's still getting caught up . It always seems to be around the registry so I may try to run windows through and do a repair and see what happens.

Seriously mate i'm working on PC problems like this all the time.

When it comes to older XP systems like yours the quickest and easiest way really is to format tottaly, your infastructure will probally be riddled with malware etc from what you've described I can see its not in good health generally.

And when I say format I dont just mean the C: drive, malware and corrupted files can reside anywhere on your hard drive.

Try GParted linux distro to format FULLY then reinstall xp, you will be amazed at the performance increase if you've never done it before.

From a profesional point of view your wasting your time with anything else, thats all i'd do if a client brang me a job like this

All that you have to do is to put a resistor between the DVD-rom and the VGA card. This will solve your problem. :-)

                    This is just a joke.
                    Don't waste time.
Reinstall the system and save a lot of time and nerve cells too... :-)

Why is everyone so eager to format, this is probably a tad to late for you now. I have given up counting how many PC's and Laptops I have fixed by trying a few simple things. Firstly does it boot ok in Safe Mode and continue to run in safe ok? Formatting is the easy option as suggested above, but the problem of course is that you can lose to many things and the reinstall is painful.

If it runs OK in safe suggest you download and run , Spybot, MalwareBytes and Adaware as a start, whilst in Safe. This will usually cure 90% of problems I come across frequently. You can also try SuperAntiSpyware but you may start to add more problems than you started with.

Try the above - its worth a go.
