its possible that your tv is out of range and you need to ajust the output resolution from your pc to some where near the resolution of your tv.

The thick ~~~~ that I have for a brother had the same problem with his laptop. If he plugged it into a monitor it worked, but he got the blank screen on his TV.

After I lowered the resolution down to 800x600 it worked fine.

Hi funkyuk, have had a similar problem on a clients computer that i fixed, i fixed it using my monitor and when i gave it back all the calibration was wrong.

Luckily its a simple enough fix, follow this step by step.

            1) Turn your computer off fully.

            2) Wire it into the tv.

            3) Turn the computer on and is it starts booting repeatedly tap f8.

            4) Eventually you will reach the Windows Advanced Options Menu

            5) Select Enable VGA mode and hit enter.

            6) Windows will now boot in 640 x 480 res with a current video driver instead of VGA.sys

7)Once windows has booted fully feel free to re adjust your monitor with a sharper resolution etc.

            Jake

Out of range means the TV/Monitor doesn't support the Resolution you're trying to get....

If it's a HD ready TV then it should work on 1024X768 or 1336X768

Set the res in Windows first using your pc monitor, then shut down and try it connected to the TV

increase the resolution gradually from the lowest setting up to the highest at some point it will become compatible with your tv.

The pc only detects the TV on "STARTUP" you need to use another monitor when the computer starts up and enable second monitor "Your TV"

Just keep "Fn" key down and on the function keys on the top click on the button that shows a small monitor, the same as using Screen projector. See if this would help.
If you like my post pleas click on the little button to say thank you.
