Go to control panel and click power option and change more time on sleep mode.

did you have a system restore set? you may be able to restore to an earlier date. check in start>programs> accessories> system tools> system restore
what do you mean "you tried the power options and this doesn't have that option"? If you have xp installed then you have this option unless you have screwed up the system with "modifications"

you can change the power options in the "control panel", "power options", select the "power schemes" tab and then just change the monitor, hard disk and system standby to "never".

Whenever i boot my pc, it started up then dropped intp hibernation/sleep mode..

I changed memory, fiddled with xp control panal but in the end, it was a virus. Cant recall which varaint but i scanned with a usb key version of anti-virus, then run a malware check... voila

            Might help you buddy boy
