Can you list all your componants.

Number of drives, both hard drives and optical.
      RAM configuration and Make
      GFX card
      PSU Wattage
      Motherboard Model Number.

As i have stated. The only true way to get to the bottom of these is to strip the pc down to bare bones and see if still happens, run memtest 4.0 (from hirrens boot disc) over night to fully test RAM.

This could easily be something from a bad sata lead to faulty motherboard.

                an update on my situation.

                i stripped down pc.

inside was filthy especially the heat sink round the processer.

i bought a tin of compressed air and gave it a thorough clean out (thanks to cunny for that suggestion)

i took out ram strips and cleaned connections then reseated them.

finally did a fresh instal of win 7.

pc is running much quieter and no blue screen or freezing as yet.....

                fingers crossed...
