my phone is lock to the 02 network at the moment. i use my own 02 sim for this

i have done it with a sim or not.this what i do, boot up the phone dail Dial 2945#*310#
this bring me to the unlock usim menu.after that i get a menu like network lock,sim/usim and three more.none of these can be press and all i get is not available on all of them.

Am i doing it wrong then?

Not at all. O2 don't remove the menu's for the other SIM locks available. You can only access the lock type that has been used by O2.
Virgin remove the unused menu's so you only have one choice.
Just make sure you enter the correct code. After 7 failed attempts most phones permantly lock to the original network.

You just have to select each menu option in turn. One of them will ask for code, just enter the code it is asking for.
