Have a look here:
DC Files - Huawei E173
Note that Dashboard Win is the PC installed version and Dashboard Update flashes the device. The Update should also do the MAC version at the same time...Comment

I flashed that dashboard after I unlocked it ,okay here's the thing , I managed to get the sd card and cd working by using 254 and now I can't surf the net the com ports are not detected , it's just the the sd card and cd, I'm sending this from my iPhone by the way, the modem is f**ked . Btw it installs the original mobile partner but the orange mobile partner would auto configure and install the data card drivers.Have a look here:

It could have had the EEPROM stuffed by this software, as I say I have never used it due to (very) negative reports!
For all Huawei modem problems I recommend:
1. Remove modem and set to one side!
2. Un-install everything Huawei (or Orange/Vodafone etc).
3a. Reboot and check that nothing related to the modem is running in Task Manager.
3b. If it is kill it from running. Type MSCONFIG in the run box and look at the Startup Tab. **
4. Reboot the PC again and wait five minutes.
5. Now re-insert the modem.
6. Let it do its task...
** I have a feeling one of the programs may be running something dodgy in background so, look for any task running especially one with no name!!
If for any reason you should be tempted to reinstall Windows (this shouldn't be necessary at all) remember a lot of new devices expect to see Service Pack 2 as a minimum and in some cases Service Pack 3.
If this works, then follow a similar procedure on the Mac.
It is worth noting that:
1. Most newer Huawei modems can run up to seven drivers!
2. Un-branded Huawei Mobile Partner will require a connection profile to be set up manually.Last edited by Jim.Mahoney; 4 May, 2012, 08:29.Comment

I just booted in ubuntu and it works, if the data card is detected is there a Linux tool I could use to fix it? But in the meantime I'll do the above on win 7.It could have had the EEPROM stuffed by this software, as I say I have never used it due to (very) negative reports!

Neither of these programs would I trust to do exactly what they say!
Attached is MDMA which is a tool for Data Cards.
You must disable any other dashboard software before running!
It also has command line switches and the one you need is /u2diag:<x> switch where <x> is your selection and 255 enables both CDROM (emulation) and SD Card.
See the readme file this should explain everything!
