I have changed these on smaller Samsung's and the glue is pretty tough stuff. You could end up breaking the LCD in the struggle to get it off. You've been warned!!

It depends how much the 'bit cracked' worries you?
All true now you've been double warned and it's about ?90 for full screen.

Given that repairing this is a MASSIVE gamble, when you seem to have little or no experience in this Lark, why not bite the bullet and buy a used phone? There are several on ebay for ?130 or so... And you'll KNOW it works!

            Listen up.

If your phone has been subjected to any type of liquid, it has to be cleaned with IPA.

Even if it works with just a new battery, it's only a matter of time before the phone dies. There's no better rust accelerator than water, low voltage DC ampage & board components.

As far as changing thew digitizer on the S2...

            No way!

I guarantee you'll break the LCD trying to separate them. I don't know of anyone in the repair game that's been able to change just the digitizer.

You're looking at between ?70 - ?90 for a new front (digitizer/lcd with bezel, earpiece, headphone jack & chargeport)

I'm not sure where massive gamble comes into the equation... I think his is may be the uninformed thinking out loud?

As Canker says, even if the phone is working you MUST clean it. Even if you just wipe the circuit boards and check the connectors. This is vitally important and if you don't do this, any contamination will slowly eat its way through the copper especially internal connectors!

If you are going to attempt to replace the lens without the whole assembly:

              1. Drink a bottle or scotch or brandy first as this will muffle the sound of the LCD cracking!

              2. Inform emergency services that you will be inserting shards of glass into your body with great force and you may need a blood transfusion. But do tell them you have had the required scotch/brandy as they will need less anaesthetic. Do give your blood group of course!

              3. The only way to separate the lens is with intense heat in excess of 200 degrees Celsius. So the local burns unit should be on standby.

              4. You need to put 50cl of bleach into a small container and pour 50% of this in each eye. This is to ensure that your vision is permanently blurred and you can't see the build up of dust that gets behind the now badly fitted new lens. It may also hide and smaller cracks in the LCD if you haven't completely broken it... Check on the way to hospital in the ambulance.

Note: The new lens will not come with the real adhesive (the same that's used for vehicle rear-view mirrors) so it will not fit properly and will fall off on sunny days or if to close to the heating when at home... This will allow you to clean the dust out, so carry a cleaning cloth at all times!!

Or leave it as it is (after a quick clean with IPA) and enjoy the phone...

The massive gamble would have cost you just a battery and 30 minutes or your time...
