the spiderbox is a very good reciever in its own right and has a fantastic hd picture. hopefully service+ will come back on for those who rely on it but if the rumours floating around the forums are to be believed then its not looking likely. regards mdt

Spiderbox supports cardsharing, so even if it is the end of the 'gift', there's still plenty of life left in the box.

You can even use the Spiderbox as a NDS card server which is rare amongst the non-linux boxes. I would say it's worth the cash without Service+

              Absolutely.

I didn't realise how many people depended on the gift channels, to me it was just a sales gimmick.

installers have been setting them up for customers at a price between 450 to 550 quid with motorised system , with the customer expecting to get gift for 12 months so they are totaly depending on it

It's still not the end of the world is it though?

They now have a fully motorised satellite setup and a nice wee machine that'll cardshare along with the rest of them.

As with anything 'dodgy', the buyer should always try to find out as much as possible before handing over any cash and weigh up the risks. Handing over 500 notes and trusting the seller to his word is just silly IMO.

There are far too many cowboys cashing in on this hobby these days.

So where does the blame lie, with the installers or with DM?

IMO, the blame (if any exists) lies with the person handing over the money in the first place, but like I already said, it's not the end of the world, the box will accept a c: line and share just like any other box.

Yes totally agree most people do the maths and see what they are prepared to spend. If it all ended tomorrow I would still be a happy man. Probably spent more than an uk sub so far but its more of hobby to me than just sit down and watch tele.

saying all of that and what it can do etc....

the amount of channels it opened up was unrivalled really. in HD too.

if it does not return........it will be sorely missed.

the choice was immense.....as opposed to what we get in the uk through sly and vermin.
