if you have bought a tv in the last year or so and bought in southern irl they usually come with a dtt tuner for the mpeg4,some people buy in the north and get a freeview which does not work in the south.. some tvs come with a sat tuner also,i have already had an aerial under roof just need to rig up a few more cables for other tvs.

Grizz, I made submissions to them last year when they offered the public via their web site to have an imput to their future of tv in Ireland plan.
I'll bet it all ended in the recycle bin, but still had to tell them what I thought of their mode of operation.

The worrying thing is that in a few years, all the major providers will switch to these highly focused spot beams and receiving foreign tv will be a think of the past. Sure, it'll cost millions and they may need to send new birds up... But I think it's gonna happen.

, you need to change your mindset when listening to us.
Think of the warmth of an Irish whiskey flowing over your tongue, that has been made from the dark waters flowing down from the hills. think of the raven hair on porcelain skin of the colleen bawn as she carries her pail of milk and looks at you with her piercing blue eyes.
all of a sudden you understand what they are saying......

Saorsat will transmit from Ka-Sat at 9e.
Broadcasting inthe Ka band on a very tight spot beam, so will be practically impossible to receive in GB.
We are still awaiting more details and even some mass produced Ka lnbs to make them affordable.
It will be a duplicate service to Saorview, Irish DTT ( Saor is Irish for free!) comprising RTE 1, RTE 2, TV3, 3e, RTE News, TG 4 and about ten radio stations.
It's designed to fill in the gaps where Saorview won't reach.

But you all probably know this anyway.
