New Linux receivers out now or coming soon

Right found out about the new Dreambox 7020HD s, The Vu+ Uno HD and the Vu+ Ultima HD.

Whats your views on these receivers? Anyone going for one? Have use spotted any other receivers?

Be good to hear what use have to have to say?

the dreambox will be overpriced as usual and if the vu+ recievers are anything like the duo/solo then they should do ok. regards mdt

Never used a Vu+ but from what I have read and so on people seem very happy with them. The Vu+ Ultimo from what I have seen on a couple of sites the price is looking about 599 compared to the 8000HD thats a big difference. The 7020HD looks as if it will be priced at 699 and it doesnt look as if it has a twin tuner so seems extremely overpriced compared to the Vu+ Ultimo

see i was looking at the clark tech but what images are out there. i loved the pli images on my 500s but on my 800hd i found that the images were almost the same as the 500? Is this the same case with clark tech and the xtend receivers? for instance is it more graphical looking, nicer on the eye, screens in the menu sections so that you can still see what you are viewing?

I had the openpli on my 800 and found it pretty standard for layout i used black v0.12 and now running dream elite blackhole pheonix edition and think the layout is fantastic and i have the plugins like youtube and so on running which i couldnt get with other images with a clone receiver.

In saying that a image works for some and not for others. everyone has there own tastes.

I was thinking about the 8000hd clone receiver as i have never had a single fault with receivers from my supplier all been top quality but at the price of them i can go out get a original receiver such as the vu or clark at a lesser price and it will do the exact same job.

as for the dual processor I dont know what difference this would make for what a receiver actually does i may be wrong. to the manufacturer this looks good when selling the product.

i am using a Vu Uno now.

i'm in the process of writing a short review of it. but i can say this it is every thing the Vu brand lives up to and a whole lot more.

ive seen reports that its going to be around ?329 but it is supposed to be intended for a different market to the et5000.

world-of-satellite.co.uk is selling the et5000 for ?239 with free shipping within Europe.

Hasn't the clarketech et 9000 , got software issues ? Seems expensive for what it is as well. Look at clone dm 8000 hd 370 quid delivered from china ... This can support quad tuners and a internal dvd drive..

i really dont know why you and others here constantly recommend cloned boxes time and time again. i would never consider a cloned DM800 or any other over a genuine VU or CT box. as for the price. you get what you pay for. my last genuine DM7020 has lasted 9 years and is still as good today as it was then, no clone can come close to that in either longevity or build quality.

with a genuine VU or CT you never have to worry about what revision tuner card you have as it always works, you never have to worry about bootloaders and patched images as they all work regardless. as for software issues please elaborate on this as i know several people with both et9000 and et5000 and they have never mentioned any software issues.

ruberduck my 2 500s are clones and same with my 800HD and all working very well.

I was wanting a 8000HD clone but at the price i dont think its worth the risk so i was looking at the vu duo and now waiting to see what the ultimo has to offer. Even considering saving and buying the 8000hd original (need to save up for that if i say to the mrs im going to buy a receiver at that price.... i cant imagine me been in the good books )

                              How you enjoying the uno?

Personally for me be it 350 from china or 379 here from the uk for a 8000hd its to big a risk, yeah they offer a 12 month guarantee but will they stick to that?
