    Question

Am I right in assuming that with a saorview box should I be pointing the aerial towards 9 east. And if I scart it through present satellite box then I should get the channels with the present ones I have?

soarview is for terrestial tv with an aerial, soarsat is on 9East(KA SAT)but I think you need an lnb and stb that handles circular polarity which the official soarsat box will.not quite sure what you mean in the 2nd part of your question.

i think you may have to turn off sat box to watch the saorview if you scart into it, should work fine aside from that

Thanks for the replies dick b and grizz.
I'm just planning ahead as the missus will want this. If it was up to me I wouldn't bother.
The box I was looking at has 1 scart connection so maybe I'll use a spare 5 scart adapter I have to solve the scart end.

if you had a spare hdmi input go for the hd box, best to have each box to have its own cable, rabbits ears or internal aerial can be used to get an excellent picture

Pat, do you live in Ireland?
If you can receive Saorview through your existing aerial, why go to the bother of trying for Saorsat when it finally goes live?
If you are receiving the analogue RTE service then odds are that you will receive Saorview, most likely right now.
A DVB-S2 satellite receiver will get Saorsat, along with a Ka lnb, which will be available and affordable later this year.
Some people are already watching the RTE test loop with a Ka lnb and an HD/S2 receiver.

Thanks excollier. Yes I'm in the banana republic and I have a humax hd dvbs2 receiver and I'll keep an eye out for a Ka lnb. Anything to keep the missus sweet.Cheers.
