Am I right in assuming that with a saorview box should I be pointing the aerial towards 9 east. And if I scart it through present satellite box then I should get the channels with the present ones I have?

soarview is for terrestial tv with an aerial, soarsat is on 9East(KA SAT)but I think you need an lnb and stb that handles circular polarity which the official soarsat box will.not quite sure what you mean in the 2nd part of your question.

Thanks for the replies dick b and grizz.
I'm just planning ahead as the missus will want this. If it was up to me I wouldn't bother.
The box I was looking at has 1 scart connection so maybe I'll use a spare 5 scart adapter I have to solve the scart end.Comment

Pat, do you live in Ireland?
If you can receive Saorview through your existing aerial, why go to the bother of trying for Saorsat when it finally goes live?
If you are receiving the analogue RTE service then odds are that you will receive Saorview, most likely right now.
A DVB-S2 satellite receiver will get Saorsat, along with a Ka lnb, which will be available and affordable later this year.
Some people are already watching the RTE test loop with a Ka lnb and an HD/S2 receiver.Get to the Ulster Grand Prix
