28.2e and 26.0e on old sky dish??

can anyone advise if it is possible to pick up 28.2e and 26.0e on a old sly dish ........think its the first dishes they done.......60cm or so.

its up on the roof and wondering if this is possible or will it just be the one sat.

    thanks in advance.

26e is a weak satellite and I think you will struggle with a 60cm dish, and to try and get both sats of one dish without a motor will be very difficult.

Alom, I've never picked it up on an 80cm. and would think you would need a 1.2m.dish to have any luck.

I think the question here is to receive 26 east , not 28 east.

Think you pair should get a room
I think the old,old Sky dishes were pointing at 19.2 but thats a different topic before i get slaughtered for it

Yes Andy, you are correct, they were originally postioned at 19.2 east as they were on the Astra 1 satellite along with all those old german channels when Sky first launched in the early 90's.

Many people have manged to move those dishes now to the 28.2 east position & simply change the lnb.

I can receive 26 east but only on a 1.1m dish

is that a blessing in disguise then???

that means i should be able to get all the stuff on 19.2e like sly germany and d+ etc...?

                    is that right???

                      Hi Alom5,

In theory, you may well pick up stuff on 19.2 east.

But , it depends on whether the dish has been moved to the current sky position & if has has not, has the lnb changed to a universal one.

As the old lnb's will not work on the current digital tv transmissions as they were only for analogue.

You would need to find these out first before you could go any further.

You could always try to connect a box to the cable to see what happens, at least you would know then what the problem was.

well, all those things you mentioned............the answer would be a no as its been on the chimney sine sly came out in the 80's........i saw it there the other day.

these new installers don't like going up anywhere if they can avoid it .

i probably will stick a box on and see if it picks anything up....but as you if it was analogue.....probably not much point now :-)

                        thanks for your thoughts.

If it's a sky minidish, that's most likely where it's pointing. To be certain, you need to connect it to a sat meter or receiver.

Me too ha ha. Comes under Health & Safety now.

Why go up high somewhere when a lower postion will do.

Anyway, i guess that dish will still be at 19.2 East going by what you said about it being there a long time.
