well in adaptor settings in network and sharing centre when i right click on the vodafone conn, and open it, the ip address is different to the one which shows up in the command prompt, the one on windows, 192.168.xx.xx and the ipconfig/all cmd brings up 2 addresses, both with preferred in brackets after,

local area connection, is the dreambox one, this is sdame as on properties as local area conn in network centre, in dcc do i direct connect, or use the dongle as switch/hub as there is no facility in dcc for a dongle, hopefully someone will turn up soon, whose achieved this, .. thanks for replies..

but windows 7, and the vodafone dongle, just don't seem compatible, i've set up internet share, in network center, but in dreambox control centre its asking for pc ip adress, yet vodafone isn't assigned a static ip, its dynamic, so thats we're the problem lies, i also believe that its possible to connect to dmbox without the need for a 3g router, what would the dongle be classed as in DCC, as theres only a facility for a router and a hub, or would it not be required, and you just connect direct,i'd be interested to hear from anyone whose managed to connect a dmbox with a wireless dongle and an ethernet lead, how many ip adresses in this set up, and how many can be dynamic, the vodafone ip changes several times a day, any help much appreciated, thanks..
The pc or laptop designates the i.p to the stb as Tedson said
