You still never mentioned if you are sharing that basic package or not?

If you have not shared it has your receiver been off for sometime if so it could have missed a update and they may think that the card is being used in another receiver.

Either way tell them that you are appalled that your subscription has been cancelled as you have done nothing wrong deny it completely and I would even advice them that if they want the card then its there place to come and get it.

Sounds a bit suss tbh, Sky would simply invalidate the card rather than bother about haggling to get it back.

Don't sweat it m8. it happened to me. they send you a letter a good few days later telling you you were card sharing even the card number. they even ask for the card back. don't bother the card will get zapped and get naff all in a few weeks. your other multi room cards will still get free sat stuff. don't worry they can do nothing to you. If they wanted to do you they would have to explain how they came about the info to find you. and they would be breaking the law as well as letting the cat out of the bag. F@@k em. get another card at another address and be more carefull who you share with this time. ( might want to look at your 4.8e and 0.8w ppl you sharre with).

yes it was shared. Its not now, ive took the card out now.

Its a long story but the first id heard of it was 5 days ago when i got a letter telling me that my payment was overdue, which was strange seeing as i have had a direct debit for the last 9 years.

I called cs, who then told me that someone had called up in july and claimed to be me, got my birthdate right, and then changed my bill from dd to bill. The lady told me if i paid the outstanding amount and reset up the dd, evryting would be rosie. They promised me i could get a copy of the phonecall if i complained. This had me worying about id theft and the lot, spent the next day ringing around all of my banks panicing.

As far as i was aware it was all good. Then on friday i was checking my online account, only to see that its cancelation was stil in progress for my whole sky account (min package, bb and sky talk).

The advisor didnt know what the hell was going on, spent about 30 mins before putting me through to someone else who told me that my account hadnt been accessed by someone else, but by the security team , who decided to cancel my dd. Nice of them to let me know i said.

The idiot cs guy then told me that im suspected of breaking skys t&c and that the only course of action i could take was to email the antipiracy email. No phone number or anything. Said my broadband could be disconnected at any time, and refused to give me a mac address.

Ws on the phone for about 2 hours, got nowhere. Emailed the address and got an automated responce saying to send the card back, blah blah blah.

Ive since wrote about 5 complaints, 3 the director (since last wed). and only had responces from the generic sky email , where they are trying to fob me off. Now claiming that i cant get copues of the phone calls as they dont keep them. They claim that no one told me that my account had been accessed by someone else (even though they did), and they claim that i should have recieved letters( i didnt).

As it stands, i wont miss the tv, because i get what i watch on freeview. My broadband will however be the issue, as without a mac address i will have to wait for it to disconnect and then it can take another 28 days!.

                Any advice?

Sorry about the spelling mistakes, rushed that.

I genuinly wont miss sky, and im signing up for be broadband. Im more bothered about the lack of communication, lies, false promises and the fact that they are trying to fob me off.

Yes don't CS on Sly broadband, sorry for sounding abrupt but that would be the first of many no nos.

Give the card back if they persist on it's return, (it is their property at all times), but cut it up across the chip, say you didn't want any personal details leaked, or some other BS excuse.

Because of the way the internet works and all the reciprocal peering that goes on by the bigger providers it really doesn't make much odds who's service you sign up to. The only time that Sky may not be able to grab particular packets is if they stay within some other providers network (ie both the server and all the clients are on, say VM)

Note that Sky, BT & most of the other ADSL providers are effectively routed over the same backbone.

The rule of thumb on these case is that, anyone being caught and getting these demands from sky is down their own stupidity.

How many people caught do you think didn't have at least 1 unknown person using their set-up?

I don't know why people come on asking for advice in this situation!!!

They know they are caught, take it on the chin and move on.

Now if anyone did get caught and was innocent (highly doubtful)

Then a easy way would be to prove time dates and recordings on their sky box, but of course they wouldn't have them.

The only way it would work would be if a user is flagged for various reason say updates failing etc then they would monitor that users packets should they have skys internet.

So the random that is the client using sky would be too much work to monitor.
