My experience of clones has been pretty good. I have (as most people do or did) a DM500 clone. It cost me ?60 and has not let me down.
I have an Eagle box which is also a clone, and an Open Media 500 cs which again is a clone. Neither box has failed, and all are still going strong after at least 3 years.
I would however, think twice about buying a clone for a lot of dosh. I keep going to buy the DM8000 clone, but then I hear something negative about them, then a do a bit more research and nearly go for it again.
I guess it all depends on the price of the clone and the quality of the support and images out there, which will determine its success. If its affordable and supported then great, I would get one.Comment

Well for ?115 for a DM800 you can't go wrong. I've never had a problem with mine and its on 24 hours a day

THE TRUTH
The Hillsborough Independent Panel. 12/09/12
Today's report is black and white. The Liverpool fans were not the cause of the disaster.
The panel has quite simply found 'no evidence' in support of allegations of 'exceptional levels of drunkenness, ticketlessness or violence among Liverpool fans' and 'no evidence that fans had conspired to arrive late at the stadium' and 'no evidence that they stole from the dead and dying'.Comment

Im with use both there, ok its not technically right the chinese cloning receivers but there doing a extremely damn good job of it (dependent on supplier)
I love my receivers, all clones and all have done me proud so in my opinion why should i fork out double or more for the original.
I do think in a way its a bit of a low blow cloning vu+'s as they sell at a decent price and lower as time passes but end of the day if you dont protect your product enough you only have yourself to blame.

so benz made the first car and everyone been cloning since......alexander bell made the phone and evryone been cloning since.....and heck ...now they don't even need wires
c'mon...........get over it. someone has a idea and others try better it.
and the ultimate bottom line is pricing your products correctly instead of being greedy and lettiing the clones have a market. why pay ?450 ish for an original 800se when you can get a clone for ?155ish......where does it make sense if it does the same thing.Last edited by alom5; 17 October, 2011, 00:59.Comment

Wouldnt go that far i love my clone receivers but couldnt say they have tried to better it.
Also car phone etc yeah made again but not same casing, badge and so on.
But ~~~~ it Dream Multimedia aint getting a dime out of me when i know a clone receiver can do the same job for me at half the price and still have great build quality and fantastic support

you leave it long enough...the chinese will try bettering itWouldnt go that far i love my clone receivers but couldnt say they have tried to better it.

(i didn't say they had bettered it - just said that is what happens in general....an idea comes out and others try bettering it...)
some companys have now taken the dream badge off their boxes.....as they get more confident of their boxes...they will just use their own name.Comment

i think your'e right lincsat.....and once they decide on a name...and we know the quality is there now. i won't hesitate to buy even if it didn't have dreambox on it. couldn't give 2 shits. If i wan't original then i should expect to pay for an original
thats the way i see it and the clone makers should sort themselves out and then there won't be an issue as the product they are making now is pure quality.
i have not read of any hardware probs on any forums as yet on the 800se...(only user issues really)

They are also selling them under the name SunRay.
Also they can be ordered and the dream multimedia logo hidden within the battery part of the remote for the user to attach themselves.

I don't see what the issue is with clones as long as they are good clones retailed at the right price.
After all the VU duo is a clone itself of the DM8000.Comment

there will always be anti-clone "fanboys" but if the manufacturers didnt ask ridiculous prices in the first place then alot more people would buy originals. at the end of the day price is king, even more so now in this perticular mess the country is in. regards mdtDM800HDSE SIM 2.10. i have said before i am not against clones per say. However if these clones are up to the standard you all claim them they should stand on their own feet and release their products under their own names not tag along under the name of a established brand, if they did that i would have a hell of a lot more respect for them.Comment

Simple the Chinese put the Dream name and design on there receivers because they no it will sell and that's what people want, They want to believe that what they own is Dream. They sell Sunray receivers, Eagle receivers i.e. Sunray 800se. These dont sell as well as the Dream clones. So why take the risk and drop the 'Dream'?
I have said this many a time, the reason a clone market exists and do very well is because of Dream's prices they are just terrible. I know someone will say research thats went in to them and this and that, so what? You design a product its going to cost you money to do so, it may require research but that is no excuse to sell a product way over what it is worth, im sure Dream make a very large profit on each receiver sold and there costs covered easily.
I think they need to do something because it could be very possible that more clone receivers are sold than the originals. They are risking loosing there product (a good product) due to eventually not enough sales.
Anyways I think this thread has went off topic, the thread is to do with peoples views on Vu+ clones and it has turned in to a clone Dreambox bickering thread.
My views on a clone VU+ receiver is that I dont understand it as VU+ are sold at a low price. I would however consider a VU+ Duo clone if and when it comes out if it has no issues with it and it would need to be a fair bit lower than the original if it is then yeah why not consider it theres not many low cost twin tuner receivers out there.
