i have said a few times i dont actually despise the clones i do however despise the fact that there touted as dreambox receivers due to the fact that no one would want to buy them without the DM name. dont get me wrong i am fully aware of DM's ridiculose pricing structure and thats their own downfall.
as for your comments regarding the number of posts on forums regarding DM as opposed to Vu. well thats hardly surprising considering the DM have been going for ober 10 years as opposed to 2 years for the Vu and a year for the ET / Xtrend receivers. i can easily provide a long list of forums where hundreds of posts are made daily for these receivers and i will say again the support given for them is easily better than DM in my opinion. but i know i cant sway you on your opinions so i wont try.Comment

well i have a original DM7020 had it since launch. i also have a original DM600 also had that since launch. i have two TM600's and a Vu Uno had the uno for almost 8 or 9 months as i was a early beta tester and i'm exceptionally happy with every one of them.Comment

I don't own a VU+ box, but from what I can see all the VU+ images just seem that little bit more polished.
If I could afford one, I'd have bought a VU+ Duo, but since I'm skint I opted for a clone DM800SE, which would have been an original if only DMM weren't total arseholes with their pricing.

It doesnt matter if the DM has more support due to being around for a longer length of time its got nothing to do with that, for me as a buyer I see more support out there for Dream receivers which makes me more inclined to go with Dream or Dream clones.i have said a few times i dont actually despise the clones i do however despise the fact that there touted as dreambox receivers due to the fact that no one would want to buy them without the DM name. dont get me wrong i am fully aware of DM's ridiculose pricing structure and thats their own downfall.

I dont have anything against Vu+ or Xtrend receivers but if for instance the 8000HD was ?150 more than the Duo, I would fork out that extra cash as I believe that there is more support and images out there for a Dream receiver.
The end of the day Vu+ Xtrend and the likes, yes they may have there own drivers etc but they are still none the less running Dream's idea and they are still breaching copyright by using Enigma. You say you dont like clones as they use the Dreambox branding, these receivers use the Enigma branding (which is property of Dream Multimedia). They are cloning Enigma.
Thats like me creating a range of PC's called something completely different and then I stick a Apple OS on it, I can say it has different drivers all I want but the end of the day it would be a Apple rip off, there is no difference here.
The Chinese do it then its a clone Vu+ and any legitimate company do it and its apparently not.Last edited by garry1312; 27 October, 2011, 11:03.

well that explains every thing i need to know now. so i wont bother this conversation any further, as you obviously have a problem with every thing that does not come with a dreambox name tattooed on its arse.It doesnt matter if the DM has more support due to being around for a longer length of time its got nothing to do with that, for me as a buyer I see more support out there for Dream receivers which makes me more inclined to go with Dream or Dream clones.

I do not have a problem with thing's that are not Dream, take a look to the left all my receivers are clones!
I have considered buying a Duo before and I am thinking between a Duo and Xtrend E9000.
I am just stating that Enigma is not there's that is well documented. If it was there's to use there would not be a legal case between Vu+ and Dream multimedia.
What I would like to see is these manufacturers create something to compete against Enigma rather than using it.
I am also just stating that if the Chinese copy, it is a clone even if they put another name on the receiver. If a manufacture does it and sticks Enigma on it that seems to be ok. Ok they have there own images the end of the day they are still running Enigma which is not there own product.
Why do they not create there own system? One that could compete against Enigma, now that would be impressive.

The existing Blade combo firmware can use either one tuner or the other, the trick seems to be controlling both simultaneously and deciding which to use for what process. The existing firmware would need to be totally re-written, I don't know if the hardware can support both in use together.A bit of a tangent here.... If people are really after a twin tuner box, why don't someone like blade do a "combo" box with twin sat tuner?
You can pick those boxes up for less than ?150, so why not change the cable tuner for a second sat tuner and it wouldn't cost anything more. Then just need the firmware to support it and voila!, or am I missing something?
Anyway, if the duo clone is not coming anytime soon, I might hold on to my vu+ duo to check out vix 2.3 image which is supposed to be really good when it finally arrives.
You can bet that if they did do it, the cost would go up considerably.Comment

If you would take the time to research enigma, you would find out that "enigma software is open source and dreambox mutimedia only trade marked the "enigma2" logo they dont hold the rights to the software interlectual property right. DMM are a bunch of money sucking monkeys that charge the earth and when VU came along with a better built higher quality machine at rock bottom prices. they would not compete so they took they only step they could and carpet baged the enigma2 logo to stop ppl from using it. they deserve to loose everything. over price heating elements if you ask me. and yes I have both dm8000 dm800 and vu duo and solo. vu images are way better than dm images.I do not have a problem with thing's that are not Dream, take a look to the left all my receivers are clones!

Still none the less they are using 'Enigma2' it is Dream's product.
I totally agree Dream are a bunch of leeches that are playing a dangerous game with there prices. I also agree that the VU make great receivers and have built a good name for themselves.
I dont understand why people who are against clones insist on coming on clone threads time and time again to complain against them and make out that people should'nt buy them or the quality is crap, or they would not stand on there own feet unless they are branded Dreambox.
People buy clones for a number of reasons:
- Good price
- Excellent support
- Great choice of images
- It does what they need it to
- Build quality (I think the SE clone just proves that they are capable of building a receiver of excellent standard)

Not sure which team is doing the patching for this, some announcements on Ferrari forum so I would guess it may be Ferrari sim. Personnaly I would prefer to wait til Sim2 team release there's, as support seems much better from them an ramimaher already working on vu images for use on Dm
