Would it not be cheaper for them all to actually go to the games, rather than have 7 or 8 pints in a pub as i bet they would spend as much in the pub as going to the game.

It would seem that Sky have got those pubs by the bollocks then.

We'll see what happens in the long term when the money starts to run out for Rugby League because Sky are pricing themsleves to high, Sky may be forced to bring in separate subs for different sports in the future.
Rugby league is sky's most watched domestic league after the premiership so I don't think rugby league or sky need to worry there.
Rugby league is a great sport its only problem is the way it is run by the powers that be and not getting it the media coverage it deserves.

I like Rugby League aswell, but its mainly a northern supported sport.

You won't get many pubs in Eastbourne packed to the rafters waiting for it to come on.

I just think Sky should be looking to keep commercial customers in some way & by having different packages for different sports , rather than one fits all would be of more benefit to both Sky & pubs.

In the future, Sky risk losing a lot more pubs as the pubs will always opt for the football priority approach & can go foreign for that & will drop Sky to survive.

Pubs will always take football 1st.

If the pub can't afford Sky then Rugby League loses viewers, & then Rugby League bosses will be asking questions to Sky as their viewing figures will be dropping.

If Sky is losing viewers, their money into Rugby League will decrease, & Rugby League will suffer.

It may not happen overnight, but it will happen if the current
climate continues with pubs forced to drop Sky & stay open for football only via foreign tv & that would be very bad news for Rugby Football League.

I heard that Canal + will be showing live French Rugby League. I'm having to buy a satellite just for it!

I think from next year Al Jazeera has signed a deal with Catalans to show their games, and also maybe an alternative to sly.
But, if the viewing figures are in decline then i do worry about the future of live broadcasting in the UK.

Still RL sold its soul to sky....and if you lie with the devil...

Al-Jazeera Sports to cover Les Catalans

EXCLUSIVE THE INDEPENDENT- Al-Jazeera Sports, Future TV channel run by Charles Bietry, broadcast in France, from this summer, the Super League matches, especially the Catalans Dragons.

Exclusif L'Ind?pendant Al-Jazeera diffusera les matches des Dragons Catalans - Lindependant

Setanta ireland are effectively the same company as premier sports and they also show them. Premier Sports are also showing Rugby League championship games once a week (not sure if this also applies to setanta ireland tho)
