I would imagine that Northern Ireland, being a part of the United Kingdom, comes under the same rules as England, Scotland and Wales.
The Republic of Ireland may be different, but I don't think so. Just less enforcement here.Get to the Ulster Grand Prix

When breaking the speed limit you are entered into a contract as that is what your licence is.In my eyes the foreign broadcasters are not breaking any laws. They have paid the premier league the show football on their Tv stations, but because thier footprint also covers the UK, The Uk landlords etc decide to take advantage of the situation and show live 3pm football in their pub via their Tv stations. How is it that the broadcasters should be prosecuted ? Its the publican who has intentionally gone out to get a foreign satellite installation, and that decision is no one elses but his/hers, Then he uses it to get more bums on seats and sell more beer.
I dont really understand what you mean about " signing contracts " with the premier league, thats why we have criminal and civil laws ? You know that speeding is breaking the law, but you have not signed a contract saying you will always drive in accordance to the highway code.
You have a licence & you must follow the rules or laws, & that would constitute a contract.
Every time you pass a speed limit sign, you are entering a contract simply by passing it on the road.
If you drive pass the sign that says 40, you are in effect accepting their conditions, & that becomes a contract, whether you have signed something or not.Comment

of course the republic of ireland will obey uk law
and just what rights would the premier league have in ireland a big fat zero i would think but if they do have rights were does that leave the fai and the can of worms that would open up after the wimbledon fiasco.

This is not true. It works the otherway round with copyright.
You must have a contract in place with the IP owner to use anything that is copyright.
For example
I don't have a contract with NIKE to use there logo. Therefore I can't make Tshirts with there logo on it.
Copyright can be sold with any conditions therefore EPL can say to Nova you o ly have our permission to show our logo in Greece.
Meaning anyone showing EPL on a nova broadcast can only be shown in greece.
Sky UK, ESPN & BBC will have different levels of copyright access for the UK. ( or whoever buys the new rights)
Also, in law...
The Premier League coulld only prosecute pubs if there is a contract in place between the Pub & the Premier League & as there is none in place , then there is no case.
This is standard contract law, & for the Premier League to pursue pubs, there needs to be a contract in place between that pub & the Premier League.
If the Pub has not signed any contract, then no contract has been broken.
You can only be prosecuted if you have broken a signed contract & therefore no pub can be prosecuted.
All a publican has to do is to write back whoever has told them they have broken the law asking to see the signed contract, & as none could be provided, then there is no case to answer.
The prosecuter has to find evidence that a signed contract is in place before any proceedings could take place.Comment

Just found an anti-logo plugin on my DM800se & it blacks out the logo.
It initially comes up in the top left corner, but you can move it anywhere you like & it fits perfectly over the
PL Badge at the bottom.
I saw this also mentioned on lj's forum & thought i would have a look for it.
Really funny really to see this little black square, but at least it stops copyright being infringed as that's what this is all about now.Comment

The FAPL have the same influence wherever they sell broadcast rights. I never suggested that The Irish Republic would obey UK law, I merely suggested that the rules on showing FAPL footy in a public place is governed by similar rules to the UK, don't use a domestic sub!
Pubs here just don't get snooped on as much as in the UK, so it's a little easier to get away with it.
The FAI has nothing to do with English Premiership football broadcasts, so why do you even mention them?Get to the Ulster Grand Prix
