i cant understand why everyone thinks sat tv revolves around eurobird28 and sky tv. if aj win prem rights and fa cup rights of anykind im sure they wont be asking sly for anything. even if they stay on hotbird they will sell cards they will make money and frankly dont think they will give a dam if some people in the uk point a dish to 13deg or not they will still have millions of customers throughout europe.
double bubble for them is it will make the hotbird sat alot more lucrative so they would get a great deal on transponder space. millions of people have pointed a dish at hotbird over the last few years (inc uk) just for ~~~~ so think prem, fa cup, carling cup, europa league. champions league, spanish league, french league rugby and most of the boxing which they already show(on normal broadcasts not ppv) will sway most people.
oh i forgot to mention the italian league and a great % of the scotish league!!

Strangely enough, the majority of people have little or no interest in any of that stuff. If it were to move from the Astra platform then I'd guess the majority of people interested (only around 20-30% of the viewing population) would end up purchasing a 2nd dish and box rather than lose access to Sky.

if the majority of people are not interested like you say the prem rights will go for half nothing then!!, when aj got the french rights off canal+ did they move to 19deg (with all the other french channels).most people will be surprised to know when you see a dish on a house its not a sky dish its a satellite dish. aj wont really be to botherd who puts extra dish up or not the customer base with the package there trying to put together is enormousand the advertising doesnt bear thinking about with the coverage they have from just the two birds they broadcast from already.

No, thats not how it works. The small minority that are interested seem to be willing to pay stupid prices for the priviledge.

Sky also seem to of got fixated on sport, paying ridiculously high fees to secure events (thus driving prices ever upwards) and then having to subsidise their sports channels from just about everything else !

Even for the majority that have little or no interest in such things, we still end up paying for them !

Yes Aljazeera will be lauching 2 french channel June of this year when the French rights to Ligue 1 kick in. The channels will also show the Champions League which they have the French rights 2012-15. Be In Sport 1 & Be In Sport 2 with a sub of 13euro. France T?l?visions, Lagard?re, TF1 and Amaury are competing for the advertising account. Aljazeera has previously selected Spanish operator MediaPro to handle the technical workflow.

like you say people pay through the nose for sky, why? think its that sky dish syndrome i was on about. in all honesty does anyone feel like they get value for money from sky(i think not) the majority of people do not realise there are alternatives to skys endless repeats and out of date movies that they buy cheap when the main european providers have finished with them. people have got usd to using sly+ and the likes and now a remote control that doesnt look like a sky one just isnt right. bbc itv etc are free in the uk discovery ,natgeo, fox ,kids, music etc upto date movies and sport are all available at less than half the price of sky from other providers in english so weres the problem? unless the majority of people subscribe to sky for uk living, blighty and good food. on the other hand at the races and uk gold is a problem tho!!
and with a sub of 13 euro compared to what canal charged i would say sub is the appropriate word there ie subbed out. in the end aj will be no diffrent to sly greed will take over once they have the monopolly abit like uncle ruppee but with more money.

Aljazeera only have lot 5, Canal still have lots 1,2,3,4. Aljazeera (be in sport) will only carry a Friday evening and a Sunday lunchtime match. So maybe not such a good deal after all. Not different to espn current epl deal .
If epl rights are not sold pan euro the average Sky/Virgin subscriber will more than likely have 3 subs to pay sky, espn & aljazeera
Not to worry i have dreambox and a motorized dish, then again if rights do go pan euro could mean less games televised over Europe perhaps just the 138 live matches currently shown in uk
