sly plus rec cheat

hi everyone..
just letting you all know about a little cheat if you have a spare sly plus box..if you ring sly and tell them your card is damaged ie your kid has pulled it out and snapped it.
they will send you a new card at the cost of a tenner,and they only switch off the premium chanels on the old card,BUT STILL leave the recording function active.so you can put the old card in a second box and use it as a FREEVIEW RECORDER,,.RECORDS ch4 and 5now as well...mines been doing this now for 12months.....

Where do you find all these tricks on sky from? Mind you they maybe against the forum rules..

...there is also a code you can put in one of those nice hd remotes so it will work on a sky plus box!!..

Tell us it then

right then.....
first press the tv button on your hd remote,then press select and i button together and it will give 2red flashes,then press button number1 and hit the select button and it will flash twice again,and now it will work on your sly plus box.to change it back to hd just go through the same process but put in number 2 this time.......................

do you know how to get a sly plus box out of standby?? if not i will tell you...........

...i mean if your box gets stuck in permanent standby which sly plus boxes do quite often cos theyre crap..........
you have got 5 buttons in a group up,down,left right,and centre.
power your box down,then press left and right button together keeping them pressed in while you power the box back up.it might take a minute or so but eventually the center green light will start spinning around and the recording light will come on.at this point you let go of the buttons and press the center button and the box will do a factory reset and spring back into life!!
you will lose any recordings you had,but if ur not insured it will save you 60quid.........................

Would that work if you were preparing to jump ship with Sky and go to FreeSat?

Say you phoned them an month in advance of jumping and paid for a new card would the old one still continue to work after the contract had ended; I mean still continue to record?

Would that also mean that stuff you had recorded onto a Sky+ box would not be lost ie you would be able to play it back?

unfortunately you would only be able to play back the free to air stuff you have recorded ie bbc itv ch4 etc...........
why dont you just get a freesat recorder in the first place to save u all the trouble,they have 4 times bigger harddrive and look much better,also it has a common interface so if you ever want pay tv u just buy a cam....
