    m8 you said above
Now iv been told I am in a conservation area so have to take it down

why say about what your neighbour does not know if you have been told to take it down

dont take this the wrong road but from reading all your posts over the last week is there anything good going on with your sat set up as first you cant get a clone duo to work

then you get real duo and you cant get it to find sats after having a dish installed by someone that put it on wrong side of fence by 20 cm and now your saying you have to take it down

is there any part of this sat setup thats went right for you?

Get a receipt for the dish that states it's a 1m dish, then if any council official turns up, refudse them access to measure the dish and show them the receipt. Then tell the neighbour that the dish is within the de-minimis regulation and tell them that if the dish was moved, it would be pole mounted where he could clearly see the whole thing from his lounge/patio/conservatory or whatever.

Hi. i have had two dishes , both over 1m big, for many years. Never had any problem from the council here in London. To be honest i think the council is more concerned with robbing motorists than people with satellite dishes. If your council complains tell them you did not know the difference between metric and imperial measures, they may have a sense of humour. Take care.

Im confused . Does this mean i will need to take it down or as its smaller then 15m i am ok . Im confused because it states.... "or on a building >15m high"

clearly your bungalow is less than 15 metres in height as that is almost 50 feet ! those regulations generally cover one , two or three storey buildings

in a conservation area you have to hide it from the road or waterways and so many may have it on a rear garage or back wall or in the garden (similar to a dormer facing backwards and cannot be seen from the front)

I am not a planning officer so pointless asking me if you will be alright, the council are the only ones who can tell you that

you have not said if your dish can be seen from the road or any waterway like the river or the broads, but clearly you must check those details if you actually are in a conservation area. also check where neighbours dishes are located and if they can be seen from the road or a waterway for comparison

no council likes to see dishes on front walls anyway, although in many areas that is where the dishes are but no action is taken if its not a designated area

so ideally you want this dish sited in such a manner that it is unobtrusive , not seen from a road or waterway, not overhanging any neighbours property and preferably at the rear of your own property. it may also be worth painting it dark colours too (dark green or dark grey or charcoal)

if you did decide to escalate the issue as was suggested earlier that will only bring you trouble as once the police and council get involved then you will be the one back pedalling, not the neighbour. and any disputes could prove costly and make the buildings difficult to sell in the future

if the council decide that its badly sited then you still have to move it, even if they cannot force you to remove it completely due to your human rights
read the post by lincsat again as that is clearly a good answer and the details were correct

and should the neighbour use the trees argument and saw off the overhanging 20cm part and lob it back over the fence you only have yourself to blame for not being proactive about it and you have absolutely no right to infringe his property or the boundary at all !!

An outdoors chair with an in-built hidden satellite dish and LNB. Great for when you can't put up a dish due to regulations. Works like a 60cm dish. But don't sit on it when you want to watch TV!

That triax will be fine as long as it's not located towards the front or front/side of the house.

My sister had been told by the council to take hers down our relocate it to another part of the house.

She's had it there for over 2 years and never had a mention....recently she had some work done on the house and had planning down and after that they say they have had a complaint from the neighbour about it.....very strange no complaints until planning's visit.

Same dish and I said about it being legal and all that...they were saying something about volume of dish and all that crap...but basically said relocate and no probs.

What about having the dish on a pole concreted into the ground ? This will get around the whole planning issue as its not attached to your property. Maybe you can have the pole close up against your house wall ? As long as the dish is not touching the actually house you are exempt from rules and regs. You can then even go for a 1.5mtr dish instead, that will really piss your neighbours off....

Actually not M8, I've been through this before - even a free standing dish is subject to planning if over the exempt size.

It's national law M8, everything on your land is subject to planning control. If your council chooses to turn a blind-eye, then you are lucky. But believe me, when they get involved, they won't let it drop.

They usually write to you first with a threat, then issue an enforcement notice. In my case, I got fined for only dismantling the dish and not removing it from my property. At this stage the only option is to appeal to the Government.
