Gonna throw sky box out the window!

    Hello

I've searched for ages now looking for a way to sort out my sky+ box on here but i'm not sure i've found the exact answer, so here's my question.

Earlier this week it was pouring and i lost sky altogeher on both boxes. ( I have sky+ downstairs via subscription and an old sky box upstairs where we jusdt get the freeview channels). Thought it was the weather and so didn't worry too much.

Since then, the channels are back but go pixellated and freeze. Some channels are worse than others and some i get the 'no signal being received' message.

I was going to do the reset thing as posted on here and was ok about losing all my recordings. My question is this though.. is it a box issue? My thinking was it probably isnt as both my boxes are playing up. It must be something to do with the dish?

Please help. I am about to throw both the boxes through the windows (much to hubbys disgust!).

Answers is simple English for me please! Many thanks in advance for your help

Sounds like you might need to tweak your dish a bit and check for any water ingress ..

I would say deffo a dish and/or lnb problem , or cables , or all 3

probably not the box , so test the box at somebody elses house on their sky feeds for comparison

if it works there and not at yours , its your dish/lnb/cable at fault

throwing them through a window only adds to your woes , it wont fix the problem

so get the dish and lnb and cables checked or replaced, and aligned

with the recent bad weather , thousands of installations will have need similar attention , I have had to tweak a few myself , and only yesterday changed my lads quad lnb !

So can i just climb up the ladders and jiggle the dish? Get hubby to stay indoors and shout when it works? Like a 'Carry On' film?

What is this about water ingress... how do i know if that is the issue and how do i fix it?

Sorry if this has all been said before.

Plus Sky said never to try and move the dish myself. I must pay them to fix it for me. I soooo want to fix it myself and save ?65!

sky wont advise you to do anything except pay the cash out , certainly not any diy

if its the dish , then careful tweaking whilst watching the tv can be done

water ingress means water inside the lnb or cable , or both , and so a new lnb may be required and also the cable ends remade or worse still new cable fitted from dish to sky box

I can do it myself , many on here can too , the average miss noidea ? maybe not

I'm a definite Miss Give It a go, but i know my limits! I'll try the dish jiggling bit and if that doesn't work i'll get a man out who can do it.

Is there a place on here where i could find a local person who could come and help me?

                          I would say try...

Dish out of line...Lnb faulty or water...Cable water ingress.

                          in that order.
