    VU+ Solo Motor not moving

Hi guys, trying to solve a problem and have asked elsewhere, but a problem aired is a problem halved (I think thats how the saying goes)

    Ok recently purchased

    Genuine Vu+solo
    blackhole image 1.7.6
    Triax 110cm dish
    Alsat dark superior led motor.

    Dishpointer co-ordinates

    000.0251 e
    051.5414 n

    Dish Setup

Ive managed to get the dish up, everything seems to be plumb and level. Dish is installed using coordinates from dishpointer, so correct latitude on motor at 51.5, dish is then set to 35-7.4 so that is set to 27.6

    Cable setup

the cable setup is as follows, and I have double checked all of this to make sure f connectors are in snug and the right amount of sheathing removed.

back of vu+ solo box > motor 'rec' (28m cable)

motor (lnb) > lnb (1.5m cable)

    STB Setup

    Configuration Mode: Simple
    Mode: Positioner
    Latitude: 051.541
    NORTH
    Longitude: 000.025
    EAST

    then

I did the following to zero the motor

    Press Menu
    Select Setup Press OK
    Select service searching Press OK
    Select Positioner Setup Press OK
Select goto 0 Press RED Button

I could see the dish move slightly to the right then back again.

    Channel setup

    Downloaded crossepg
    Updated using openxml
Downloaded latest catseyes channel list and uploaded to box (thanks catseyes and all involved)

    The problem

Pressed the channel + button, selected satellites, chose thor 0.8> services > bbc world news

At this point I could hear the motor click, I thought nothing of it as the dish would only need to move slightly.

Went up to the roof to fine tune the signal, but noticed that the motor dial was still on 0 and hadnt moved even slightly.

I tried pressing the manual east and west button, but it would click once and you could see the dial go up/down by 0.1 tried keep it held but nothing.

So I went back to the STB, rebooted, went to positioner and used the remote to manually move the dish west, this worked. I went to zero the motor again, but again the same problem occurred, all I hear was a click (the dish at this point is about 20w.

Went back to the roof and after clicking away at the button managed to get the motor back to 0 (the STB was in the positioner menu at this point)

Now back at the STB I zero the motor and it works, now I select bbc one on Astra 28, thinking the dish should visibly move to the east, but nothing, I do however hear a click and a flashing satellite dish image on the screen.

This is the point I gave up. Any help will be really appreciated. Ive tried using a shorter cable with the same results.

Could it be USALS not working right, receiver not pumping out enough juice or co-ax not carrying enough of it, or the motor being kanckered?

    everything is new.

firstly change your settings as its difficult to read your post.... id say its the motor m8, try using diseqc 1.2 protocol as darkmotors are known to be tempremental(i couldnt get my dm800 clone to move one/15m cable run) on a m8,s install although the spiderbox moved it fine.. do you have acces to another stb to try instead of the solo as this could rule out/confirm the motor as the issue. regards mdt

Oops sorry about the dark font.

il try that, unfortunately i dont have another STB. the only thing which is nagging me is that even when up on the roof using the manual buttons, the thing would only click.. and after a dozen or so attempts it springs into life and then its back to clicking when you try and move it again.

ok just an update, ive been told it could be a problem with the E2 based receiver, therefore power, firmware issue etc.

Would a firmware change be worthwhile?

Sorry lads. I typed on my mail editor as my net connection was choppy so kept losing what I typed and pasted from there. Will change for colour when I'm back on computer.

The box is genuine as it has black hole 1.7.6 also the place I got it from at vu+resellers. So I'm pretty sure it is.

I got the box back on today, managed to turn it fully wet and east manually but when I tried with selecting a channel it went back to clicking. Tried advanced mode with increased voltage option. But same story

if you can move the motor manually then its getting enough power from the stb... theres been quite a few reports recently of faulty darkmotors so id guess its that, contact your supplier for a replacement if all other efforts fail, regards mdt

                    thanks,

you can move the moto manually intermittently, other times it just clicks once. Ive contacte the seller, they are goign to get back to me.

                    cheers.

Hi Check limits have not been set on motor movements. Disable limits and check if ok. Also check on different receiver to eliminate software issues or disable your patch to see if it works. If motor is new it is very unlikely to be the motor. A member recently had similar problems and i advised him to disable the limits and then worked fine.

Yep thats the resolution for now. I didnt meddle with it any more, as i didnt want to ruin it or anything. And as others have had a similar issue, it perhaps could be a faulty motor. i guess we shall find out when i attach the tm 2600.

Thanks for all your help guys , will report back once i have installed the new motor.
