to my knowledge lnb from starview need to go to dish not other box,2 boxes on one cable with voltage can mean trouble.
wait for more answers to be safe than sorry.

Hi. Two ways you can connect two boxes in my opinion:

      1) Get dual LNB and connect one cable to one box and second cable to other box. This way you can watch any channel on either box. If you have a HD box make sure LNB is HD compatible.

      2) If single LNB connect cable from LNB to first box. Then use a cable from LOOP OUT of first box to LNB IN of second box. Only problem with this setup is you can only watch same polarity on both boxes ie either Vertical or Horizontal channels. Make sure both recievers have correct TP's to view channels. Hope this makes sense.

Hi. Silly question but do you get any channels on Starview box ?? Are frequencies in Starview correct?? Where are you getting Freeview from?? Do you get the NO SIGNAL message on Starview?? Please inform us if both boxes are satellite receivers as i know that the setup given should work because i have done it several times.

          Regards

Hi. Not familiar with Starview but if you have a blind scan option use this to update the receiver. If not check if you can enter the frequencies manually, usually found in Installation/Setup menu. It appears then that your Starview has out of date frequencies and needs updating which is why you cannot see the channels.

              Regards.

Hi. From what i can make out it appears that the Starview box needs updating with correct frequencies which is why i suggested doing a blind scan if possible. This will update the receiver with ALL the TP's from a satellite. If you do a normal scan it will only search for pre-set TP,s which may be out of date. I agree with you that the Starview box should be connected directly to the LNB for for the scan to work otherwise you will need to scan the Vertical and Horizontal TP;s one at a time if you leave both boxes connected to one LNB. Hope this makes sense.

you wont get freeview on a starview, only freesat from 28.2/28.5 east. the sv doesnt even have a freeview tuner in it (dvb-T)

the sv can be changed to a spiderbox (check the stickies in the sv forum) and you can use a spiderbox channel list if you wish, and also the softcam too if required

as for loop through, if a box has power saving enabled it can mean loop through is off when placed on standby, so the slave box would get no signal. check for power saving on the main box ad turn it off if you want loopthrough on standby to work

also if you use a barrel F connector at the main box you can check everything works to the second box

when the main box is on you will be restricted as to channels seen at the second box, but if you had bbc1 on the main box then that same channel should be available on the other box at the same time as they are both using the same transponder

i thought loop was like rf out and would send same channell on s10 too starview;but i am told s10 has to be in standby
for me to recieve picture on starview;the loop out is just another sat signal ,the starview can only get freeview ,it doesn"t have a lan ,i hope this clears it up ,thanks for all replies

no m8, the starview only gets free to air sat channels , like from freesat. it definitely does not get freeview as that comes through your tv aerial into a tv tuner which it hasnt got

no it does not send an rf signal either as it needs an internal modulator for that trick (like the tm5402)

s10 would have to be in standby in order for the second satellite box to get full control of the lnb

but if you had "the vault" music channel on the s10, then you could also tune in "the vault" on the starview combo or starview 9660 satellite box, or any other suitable satellite box if you wanted too

so both satellite boxes can tune into the same transponder at the same time, but each tuner has to deal with the incoming sat signal separately

I personally think you are mixed up over freeview and freesat or free to air channels, and also mixed up over what is sent out over the loop out too

loop out allows the satellite signals through to the tuner of the second box, but if the first box is actually on it controls the lnb and limits what can be tuned in on the second box, so the s10 has to be in stanvby with no pwer saving to allow the second box full access to the lnb

if you actually want freeview, connect a freeview box to your rooftop mounted aerial (in most of the uk anyway)

or maybe freeview was a loose term in viewing the fta on sat box, others even myself got them mixed up

i did not want freeview or freesat on starview,i wanted slysports and premium chans looping out of s10 too starview.i am told this cannot be done .as starview has no lan ,you can get "freesat" on it .
i misunderstood loop out i thought it was similar to a RF out (freeview was a loose term )
