and what appears as rust in the f connector.?how did it go rusty as i have seen the ones on lnb rust, so my query is you had a vm box now cut off from cable feed ,where is the third lnb feed .
"coax cable from the bedroom to the lnb looks good. i have also cut a bit off the end where the old f connector had a bit of rust and put a new connector on."
you should have a feed on that one you just mentioned and if not recheck connections are good so you should not have to mess with downstairs box.

i upgraded the satellite dish to a quad lnb from a single. i also connected a twin coax. and one of the twins is connected to the old vermin feed.

it developed rust as it wasnt connected to anything and was just hanging inside the omni box. so therefore was exposed to the elements.

i cut the f connector off and put a new on.

still getting no signal ? should i try another box.

you said earlier you have a feed from lnb in that room?feed should come direct from lnb to box, adding other things may give you problems, maybe water in the cable if exposed to elements.
thinking you may have to do another cable run from lnb.
the tw outlet in bedroom have you changed it for a sat connection as there maybe something inside causing problems.

Yeah, deffo try another box before you do anything else. You say it's an old pace...chances are there's problems with it picking up signal from the lnb.

            was it a sky+box that needed 2 feeds,or a single tuner box.
