well your wrong now,
its used to check people with muti rooms ect that they are linked to right phone number and not being used aboard or at a mates house,
they dial the box to make sure is live,if its not live , they double your bill, been reported all over the net the second box goes from ?11 a month to a full sub

i did cable for 5 years as well

Anyway do you know how often do I put the card back in the box and for how long to avoidit bbeing stopped in future?

It should not have to go back in the original Box as long as one of your connections allows for updating of the card

You can allow one of your "connecting" boxes to send the EMM update to the card.

Have a look on google as i am not really sure we can go more down this route here.

Where should the updating happen? In my dm500 where the card is or one of my four boxes that are receiving the channels?

if your reading it through the 500 then that should update it no problem

set up dv something to the user you want to update and what i do is leave on ch5 at night, but does matter cards update all the time, mine in fact right now both cards show active

just put it on a ftv channel on your dm500s, motors tv or sony movies and if your configs are correct it should update it.... if not shove it in a s*y box overnight, s*y 1 or ch5HD or whatever and it will update eventually,regards mdt

Just a thought i said this assuming you had a satellite feed going to the 500 with the card inside if not then it will not receive the appropriate update

I know for fact as I did a satellite course in my previous life that the phone line connecting to the sly box has only one purpose. That's is for voting such thingsas xX factor. It is a way of the box manufacturer making money and it ispart of the contractual requirements with sly to have the phone line in

they also dial the box to put right any technical issues like they did with my card and plus HD box when they could not enable the plus side in order to record and playback. and they use it to check its connected to the contractual phone line where a contract exists, like multiroom

the refresh interval is about 6 weeks, although its better to play safe and do it once a month if required

oscam web interface will tell you what entitlements you have and the expiry dates on each one

oh that is where i have been going wrong then. I have no satellite feed going into the dm500 server that has the card.

So if I take out the whitelist and make sure that there is a satelllite feed into the box then that should do the trick?
