    Alligning dish, which channel/transponder?

I will be fitting my new zone 2 dish and was wondering which channel/transponder should i check if it has signal?

I was told to check if the weakest channel has signal, if so the rest of the channels should be fine.

    Thanks

Im struggling to allign the dish. Is the eleveation always 22.9 degrees regardless of the height you install it on the wall?

Even though it has the elevation measurements on the side of the bracket, it is difficult to see exactly where 22.9 is?

you cant rely on the bracket markings you will have to hunt for a signal by swinging the dish slowly L/R and altering the elevation a bit either up/down at a time the height from the ground wont make any difference

Oh, im guessing that will be quite difficult then as if i have to move it left and right and up and down at the same time, there are so many posibilities that it might be.

Are the cheap satellite finders on ebay any good?

just start off pointing the dish in the same direction as everyone elses then with the dish elevation set to say 32 move the dish slowly L/R past where the sat should be. if no luck lower it by 1 to 31 and so on til you get a signal(you will in the end) cheap sat beepers only tell you you have a signal but not which sat its from.

if you have the Raven MKIV dish then for the elvation as thses have no markings here is a little tip, look at the side and on the bracket you will see a small pin hole on either side, drop the bracket so that the underside is just below the pinhole and not covering it literally so you can still see straight through the hole this is around 22? elevation tighten that up and start with that point it may need adjusting but only very slightly.

Ill try again tomorrow on this frequency. What is an acceptable signal strength and quality on this frequency?

depends if your going to be doing the alignment via a pro meter or a signal strength bar on a satellite receiver

It is a Raven MKIV dish but it does have the markings on the side. I was using these but someone posted that these are not very accurate.

on the Vu+ then you should be looking at around anything over 60% SNR and above if possible
