dont worry about the markings.. use CH4HD on 11.126.v.23000 dvbs2 to find astra2f and CBS ACTION on 11.222.h.27500 dvbs on eutelsat 28a to fine tune. its a zone 1 m8 there a piece of cake just take your time and make very small movements left/right,up/down untill you find the bird and ajust to peak and squeeze every drop of signal from cbs action. @digi m8 C4HD is booming in here at 20 DB regards mdt

No worries, from your experience are the elevation markings accurate?

My current vu+ shows snr of 15% and agc of 80%. Isn't this strange as the strength is really high but the quality is pretty much nothing.

Actually I think the quality is more important than the strength as I just unpluged the feed to my box and the strength agc went to 99%.

quality is what you are after, you get signals from nothing at all, when you align it onto c4HD and cbs action you will see the channels on the test tv, and you will get a decent signal and quality, and then fine tune it

Tried again today but no luck still.

I thought the cable was faulty but tried this on my virgin box and worked fine. The vu+ is fine as this was working perfectly with my old dish.

                      Is my LNB faulty?

The other thing which i found strange was that i bought a satellite finder from screwfix and that didnt work either. Actually, when i plugged it in, it showed nothing as it seemed there was no power going to it.

I have been doing some research and it seems like the meter requires power from the box but the vu+ does not always give power to the LNB as mentioned here, Power to LNB on always possible?

                      Is this correct?

if you leave the box switched on tuned to channel 4 hd with the osd set to no timeout then if the cable/dish/lnb are fine then you will pick the signal up eventually. imo those cheap signal meters are not great as they give readings of the floor. ive fitted a 1m motorised system using nothing than the osd quality meter and although not ideal and very time consuming it is possible. without a proper field meter theres no way to test the lnb other than recieving a signal, regards mdt

                          Got it working!!!

Finally got it working, what a long and stressful day.

Went and bought a satellite finder but it didnt even come on, i thought it may be faulty. I tried to align the dish manually but no luck so had to call an engineer who charged me ?30 to align.

He said i was getting over 90% quality but still the vu+ couldnt get anything. I did a full scan but it only found channel 5 which was strange.

I then borrowed my neighbours sky digibox and it worked which meant my install was all fine it must be a faulty box. I was disapointed as the box was working fine before. At this point i plugged in the satellite finder to test it and it worked fine on the sky box. This re-confirmed that my vu+ was faulty.

As a last ditch attempt i plugged my vu+ back in and it started to WORK. I was getting more than 90% signal quality on most channels and picked up even more channels than previous.

I just can not believe this, but happy nevertheless. I also tried the satellite meter again and this time it was working off the vu+ so happy days.

                          What a really strange day!!
