a pro installer has overheads like pli, petrol, call out of ?40 probably although i agree its slightly excessive. you have your own ladders, meter and spend countless hours reading and trying yourself but most people dont and just want to pay someone to do it. im lucky i can do it myself and also have a good m8 who does it proffessionally aswell who will help me if needed. regards mdt

mdt totally agree the guy could of made it look a lot better tho... i.e at least stay up the ladder for 30 mins to make it look like he was actually doing something

i think he would have been up there longer if there was a nice bird sunning herself in a bikini, but its the wrong time of year only thing he might get is frozen nuts.

I wonder what is the point in having motorised dish, since the wind started on Thursday I can't watch anything inlcuding 28e and hotbird. No chance of getting 10e and 1w and 4.8e
I had to watch using my 2nd dish which is fixed.

The Only reliable motorised setup in the wind is either one situated close to the ground, Shielded from any adverse weather by a wall or another building, a Mesh dish setup or a smaller diameter dish to what you have now and as you stated a fixed dish system.

I would never advise anyone in extreme weather conditions especially High Winds with a setup thats over the Gutter mounted to even attempt to move there dish not only are you putting extra strain on the motor but this is more likely to cause your setup to move. The only real chance you have of not having your motor move around on the pole is to drill throug the backing plate of the motor and pole and fit a heavy duty nut and bolt combo to give it extra rigidity, This doe mean however you have zero chance of adjusting it in the future.
