Hi all!I am thinking about getting satellite TV but am unsure as to what I will get channel wise,I know that for lots of channels such as Adult and Footie which is mainly what I'd like from it are encrypted and need cams and cards.I am not looking to spend a fortune on a system but really don't know where to start because there are so many packages etc it is very confusing for a newbie.I would definitely want a motorised dish to give more choice...can anyone give me any suggestions or point me in the right direction.Could anyone explain the whole CAMS thing,I know some receivers dont have slots for these.Any info or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

1m motorised system , linux box (with cam slot if possible) If you want lots of choice you will have to google cardsharing. Cams open some encryptions but as everything is changing at the mo cams cant open much.
I spent ?200 a few mths ago and with a bit of help and searching the net can get everything.
well worth it. -

Cardsharing is both free and costing dependent on your server host! No further discussions allowed but there are a few forums out there which are dedicated to cardsharing so google is your best friend!
Read the Rules here; they apply to Everyone.

the db 600 has a card reader but no cam slot.
it is a good receiver but if your tv is HD ready

Not at all my friend.. I am helping the other user by stating what i have found out for myself, most noobs feel intimidated by experienced users...and when asking questions they get answers in a manner that only experienced users understand, not at all understood by the inexperienced user. I think that is why some forums struggle to keep users. Persoanlly i struggle to get straight answers from experienced users, its as though they try to show off and do not want to help new user, but to chat technology with fellow "tech heads"..I am not asking for people to bend the rules. Rules are Rules......I know that, and i would never start a thread asking for such advice.....period...Many thanksComment

theres a lot to cardsharing but if you keep reading it will all come to gether and you will get the hang of it. It is definatly the way forward.
Never pay to join a server you can get it all for free. In 2 weeks i managed to get everything set up and get every channel on every sat for free. You will be able to do it o with a bit of reading up on it.
the best thing i can suggest is to but your equipment set it up to receive the fta channels and then start playing. it is alot easier to under stand once everythings set up and to can have a play about.
I bought the tm9100s. It has 2 card slots,a cam slot, its linux (for c/s) and a internal ide hdd can be installed to use it as a PVR. You can pick one up for about ?130 new.Comment

Yeah just give it a go. It's alot easier than it sounds. Just make sure you get a Linux receiver and evan better if it has a ci slot for any new cams that come out. Then if you can't get to grips with c/s you have allways got the option of getting a cam but I'm sure you will.
I'm pretty clued up on CPUs but it's all just self tought by Reading up on stuff and having a bit of patience.Comment
