Best box in menu / epg closest to Sly type

    Hi Guys

I have a Skybox F3 for the bedroom which is great but I'm after a twin tuner HD box for downstairs to record on, I need an easy menu/epg for the wife to use to record her programs, is there anything about like this and would they be able to link a series. She was used to the easyness of the sly+ unit and struggles with only having the basic now/next F3 epg.

    Thanks

Yea thanks Ramjet, I was looking at the duo - so the epg is good? Does anyone know if there is a way to link a series to record with these epgs?

I don't think there is anything that has "series" link as that software seems to be only for official boxes.

Have you seen the Amiko Alien 2 or even the nbox 5800SX? Both cheaper twin tuner boxes. The Alien 2 runs two imahes, Spark and Enigma 2. The nbox has a choice of Enigma 7.6.1 or Nebula v3. Both run 7 days EPG apparently.

Yea I downloaded that and got the channel lists but only now/ next most of the time on the EPG

Also you only get 5 channels at a time on the EPG and the program's only go on when your on that channel.

I've heard a better EPG is due in the next few weeks for the F3 tho I'm more interested in the twin tuner ones now.

I did look at the Alien 2 - it looks great for the price but the Vu+ duo does look a better unit (tho more expensive)

Thanks for the opinions guys - still undecided on what twin tuner to get but ur all helping :-))

I thought i would never say this but also consider the TM-2T which is a Linux Enigma2 Twin Tuner and has the same broadcom chipset as the Duo so is nearly identical also it costs around ?40 less, The only problem i see with it is the images are mainly OpenPLI core based which there are plenty about with the VU product you also have the choice of Blackhole,Blackpole and VTI

But for the price i would consider it i think its roughly around ?219 from most major online retailers

i am now using the tm 2t as my main box and it works flawlessly i am using the 4d openpli image and not had any problems,if you fancy the vu i think i would be looking at the uno or the new solo2 but from what i have read there seems to be driver issues with the solo2 so all is not well at the moment am sure they will fix before the solo 3 comes out ,also take into consideration before you spend your money if its just s** you want there may be problems in the future you may be better sticking with your f3 till you see how the land lies in a few months time

Not too sure what Driver Issues there are but My Solo2 is working flawlessly and has done from day one, the last i hear was some people had problems recording i have never seen this problem on mine and i do keep up with the driver updates which seem to be every few weeks now.

I got the Vu+ Duo and I'm very impressed. I had blackhole installed but found it a little complicated and I was having problems with freezing, I read the VIX image was a good simple option so I tried that. same problems for a while but it settled down and now seems pretty stable, the menus and bouquets are great and the EPG looks fantastic, much nearer what I want.

Just need a few tweaks to be brilliant.

I thourght about waiting but looks like I've caught the bug, so we are now a Linux box family and S*y can bu**er off, hopefully I won't need em again - even going to cannibalise the S*yboxes

Spoke too soon, had some bad freezing problems with the Vu+, the F3 is running well.

I've tried a couple of images and now just want a stable one - any suggestions on a nice simple one to check the box out with??
