I suppose it depends on what sort of system you have now and whether or not your happy with it as it is. There are pro's and con's with any system either fixed or motorised.

I personally find more pro's with motorised than i would with a fixed dish system or even the new kid on the block IPTV, Most of the Pro's are more channel choice FTA and with official subscription cards as well as the other which we cannot mention on here.

The cons are the expense for some people but if your doing this as a hobby and not just getting into it for the Plug & Play brigade by that i mean just switch it on now and again to watch something, Where as the hobbyist which there are quite a few on here will search for feeds, find new channels and generally keep track of whats happening in the industry.

I am sure what ever you decide to do and if it is motorised it will bring you as much pleasure as it does for everyone else in the hobby

    Regards

Hi. You cannot beat a motorized system for choices and loads of fun in setting it up. I would always recommend a 1m dish with a motor. Also make sure you have a receiver that is patchable to enjoy the benefits.

      Regards.

        Hi,

Thanks for the replies. I have got a fixed dish at the moment, what I am concerned about is if I go motorised and buy subscriptions will most of the channels be in a foreign language ? Is there more sport etc I could watch ? Also what do you men by a receiver that is patchable to enjoy the benefits ?

        Thanks

        Mark

Because alot of movies etc are made in the states or UK they are transmitted in the language of the Country ie Italy or Germany but most remotes have an audio button which lets you select English.
Best thing about motorised is you're not relying on the one encryption.

          Andy.

best bet is have both, leave the fixed dish on 28e and add a motorised dish as well

most 3rd party boxes can be patched, and so allow for many "extras"

yes "foreign" channels may be in their own language, but there is still a lot that have english as an audio track, or are subtitled in the local language, but you cannot expect any different as if you lived in albania or turkey you would expect channels to be in your own language , wouldnt you ?

                  Hi Andy,

Thanks for the reply, would sly italia movies be the same as sly uk movies, as in they show the same movies and release new movies at the same time? Sorry if these seem dumb questions.

They show different line ups as some of their films are say in Italian but as Saj said in the earlier posts it opens more doors so to speak.
If you like your footy you can watch most 3pm matches etc and overall a motorised setup gonna cost you 170 quid all in fitted,

                    Andy.

yes they are multiple depending on how many you can get,one advantage there instant change no waiting for sat dish to move from far left to far right.
i still like the old fixed sat dish on astra with an octo lnb and hotbird on a quad and a motorised and i believe loose movement in the gears.

Looks like the lnbs need some tweeking can you get away with a smaller dish and are they more money in general.

motorised dish's are great if they are INSTALLED CORRECTLY and the receiver is setup right to move the dish
every receiver will have different setup procedures some will be very easy some not so easy . please do not think that these motorised dish installations are simple you will learn the hard way and spend some time to make it work only if you are a serious diy person . good luck . if you are paying for a good reliable installer do not pay unless you see that your dish is totally on the arc or it will give signal issues .. make sure you get a professional installer who will also help with setting up the receiver .. the lies i have heard from customers who have paid for a dish install and the installer has blamed everything for it not working is unreal .
