the toroidal dishes are just an example of trying to make the dishes with lnb racks smaller

I use a fixed triax dish with the triax rack and quad lnb,s to pick up 4 satellites from one dish, and digicon posted his 3 lnb system in another thread on here showing a picture of his dish using a special lnb adapter

just think of these items as the many different methods of doing similar jobs, and the fixed dish system is better for getting some of the more popular satellites, typically 13e + 19e + 28e on the one dish

Hey all, I had an installer come round today to do a survey for a motorised install. He said I'm going to struggle or maybe not get hispasat at 30 degrees west. What will I be missing if I can't get this sat ?

      Thanks

The 3 Main packages are Zon, Meo & C+ so if you had an official subscription package for each then your losing Movies, Sports, General entertainment which a lot is in english.

There is as far as i am aware only 1 channel open with a key which is Fox sports which again is in native english

maybe that a building or tree etc is blocking your signal for 30 west as this satellite is very strong . ask him will you pick up 39 east

Problem is if building etc is blocking 30 west chances are that other satellites may be blocked as well. If you do not have tall buildings or large trees in the way then you should pick up 30 west easily regardless of what the installer says - dish size and location permitting.

            Regards.

I think it's actually next doors house which may cause the problem blocking off hispasat and the location of where I want the dish mounted. Oh we'll two chances !

Although I have used a motorised dish for many years, it is worth thinking about a fixed dish with multi LNB's and/or monoblocs via diseqc if you want to go multi sat.

If you only want around 4 satellites that are pretty close together, then deffo worth it, I use 19'e and 28'e via diseqc when away in my Caravan, and the first thing that you notice is the instant zapping speed between satellites with no waiting for the motor to position.

was the installer considering over the eaves on a t+k set up as unless you have large tree,s surrounding your house 28.2e to 30w should be doable.. there is alot of good programming on hispasat but the main sats are 28.2e,19.2e and 13e which can be recieved on a fixed 80/90cm dish with multi lnb bracket. regards mdt

My house wall is bang inline with due south, so would I be better off with a fixed dish or would I still benefit from a motor? Thank Jamie

Hi Jamie. It all depends on what you are after really.. also the cost involved. A TM2600 motor in London costs around 45 pounds plus installer charges (unless you do it yourself). In my opinion it is always best to have a motor to give you more viewing choices. You will of course need a good receiver that is patchable to enjoy the benefits. You say you have a south facing wall but you need to check that there no obstructions in the way to block the sat signals ie tall block of flats, large trees etc. If you require further advice you can always ask as there are plenty of experts here. If you live in London and require further advice i may be able to assist you,

                      Regards.

I was looking at getting the tm5402 sounds like a good box,ive had a look for any obstructions and pretty much all the east side is clear. The main reason for getting a dish is to watch the footy and maybe a few movie channels would be nice, so would just the east sats be ok
                        Thanks
