Please Please Please help needed with motorised set up

    Hi Guys,

I am looking for your help and advice after a frustrating weekend.

I'm seriously struggling to set up my motorised satellite dish, it's the first one I have attempted... but don't give up easy and know there will be someone here that can help me

    Gear:

    Technomate TM2600 Motor

    Triax TD88 dish

standard 400mm 42mm right angle wall mount

I have also bought a satlink ws 6909 meter off ebay(as if i get it right friends and family want the same system)

my lat and long is 53.5605 and -2.1333

I am in serious need of your help and would appreciate your input

    Cheers in advance guys

So what have you tried upto now? Some more info needed matey

    THE TRUTH
    The Hillsborough Independent Panel. 12/09/12

Today's report is black and white. The Liverpool fans were not the cause of the disaster.
The panel has quite simply found 'no evidence' in support of allegations of 'exceptional levels of drunkenness, ticketlessness or violence among Liverpool fans' and 'no evidence that fans had conspired to arrive late at the stadium' and 'no evidence that they stole from the dead and dying'.

Would also help to tell us what box you have.
If the lat and long are not put in correctly you will get no picture.

you never mentioned your receiver or what you have done with the menus and setting it up prior to setting up this motorised system

you also havent said if you read and followed this guide here http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums...ed-dish-42881/

          Hi Guys,

I have a skybox f5, but was using my satlink meter to locate, I have just read the link you provided and although didnt see that link I have completed my installation as per that although using my meter.

I installed the bracket to wall(Plumb and accurate) installed the dish bracket(notch on the left h side looking from the back) on the motor, using the line down the motor arm as centre, the motor is then elevated to between 36 and 37, the declination angle is 7.6 so i set the dish in the bracket at between 22 and 23(correct angle according to tm2600 manual is 22.4).

I then positioned the motor on the wall bracket to south and using my meter moved it to 0.8 w thor and over the weekend ive had a signal and got 85% signal and 72% quality and scanned the progs.

Then moved to 28.2e and couldnt get a thing.

I'd had enough then and started again today and got nothing on thor 0.8w

          and thats where im upto!!!!!!

forgot to say got inverto black ultra quad lnb also

I cant really help with the meter side as I have never used one but I would have thought you needed to put in your usals settings which appear to be 2.1w and 53.6n in both the skybox and the meter, before starting to adjust the motor

then you select 0.8w and the motor will move to where it is being told to expect 0.8w for your location. this will be about 4w to 5w on the motor markings whereas you may have incorrectly decided that 0.8w is actually at 0.8w on the motor, it isnt as you are not on the 0.00 greenwich meridian and thor is east of your position and not west of you

so use usals to send the motor to 0.8w and then align and peak the signal and lock up. now move to 28.2e and the motor will move to where your usals location tells it astra2 is located. if you dont get 28.2e and there are no obstructions then you may need to fine tune the arc

bear in mind the latitude marker on the motor should be set to 53.6 too

Dont know if this will be relevant but 0.8,7e and 4.8e were all not picking up last night here in the north east.Dont know if it was the snow and type of cloud but all back this morning.

Sorry just re-read op and his problem is much sooner than that.

are you up and running now mate if not I"ll talk you through the basics again.
this is for setting the meter up using a sky dish.
connect meter up to existing sky dish aligned to 28.2E.
turn meter on then"menu">add channel>ok>scroll to astra 2 drop to the TP line and scroll through the TPs and check that at least the following TPs are listed 12207V 27500,10818V 22000 and 11.222H 27500 if not (as your meter may have them split up on different sats at that same location) drop to add TP>ok and add them.them highlight "search"<free>OK.
after scanning exit all menus press sat button check still on astra 2 press ok and scroll down the channel list checking the channels are scanned in ok.

mounting pole must be 100% plumb and dish(and this is critical)must be dead central on the motor spigot check this thoroughly.now in your usals menu put your location as 53.6N latitude and your longitude as 2.1W. 53.6 latitude must also be set on the motor scale and locked up as this will not need altering.LNB should have zero skew.now in the box send the dish 28.2East wait for motor to stop.point the whole motor/dish assembly in the same direction as the local sky dishes. using the meter connect it to the lnb turn meter on press sat button>astra2>ok scroll to sky news 12207V 27500(or channel of your choice)>ok then press "info" to bring up the signal bars.now turn the whole motor/dish assembly L/R and the dish only up/down to tune the sat in.dont worry about the 22.4 degrees quoted in the motor manual start at say 25 and drop by 1 degree at a time after each slow sweep L/R past where the sat should be once you pick it up fine tune the L/R and up/down for max quality signal recheck on cbs action 11.222H 27500.then tighten up evenly keeping an eye on the meter reading do the left/ right movement 1st keeping the signal as high as possible (it may drop a bit as the elevation will move as the motor is tightened)then re do the dish elevation to get max signal back.tighten up remove meter and reconnect lnb to motor now go to set top box and try your other sats if all well waterproof all outdoor connections.

PS; I put a car exhaust clamp under the motor when setting up as it stops it sliding down the pole when swinging it L/R

have you been out side to see if the motors actually moved, just a thought, try go for a hotbird first instead of going far over to 28east then say try 19 east i use on diseqc when usals struggle just put a strong transponder in then move dish, if you have another motorized receiver try that just to get dish lined up, i don't think these skyboxes are that great when it comes to a lot of channels stored and sat positions stored in it, sorry if anyone thinks i am wrong on that

Hi. Motor manuals, like experts ,are only a rough guide - they will never be perfect for everyone. When installing a motor you should always do it at local level. I can tell you from experience that the TM2600 motor is brilliant and very accurate. The things to remember when motorizing a dish are as follows:
                            1) Make sure you have correct dish size - ideally i recommend a size of around 1m for UK.

                            2) Make sure you have correct TP's(frequencies) for each satellite otherwise you wont get a signal.

                            3) If using USALS make sure the first satellite you look for is correct one ie HOTBIRD, FREESAT or whatever. USALS knows the distance between each one so long as the first satellite is correct one. It does not matter which satellite you choose to begin with so long as it is the correct one when you line it up.

                            4) If you get some east sats and nothing on the west then your dish is too low. If you get west sats and nothing east then your dish is to high. You need to find the balance between the two by adjusting dish angles and maybe motor elevation.

                            5) Check also the LNB is correctly seated in its holder. Try and twist slowly left or right to see if it improves the signal.

Motorizing a dish is not difficult but you need the basics in place to begin with. It helps a lot if you know how to navigate and amend settings in motor menu. You may need a bit of time and lots of patience to get it right. Once you done it you will be amazed how easy it is.
                            Good Luck.

Thanks for that, I seem to have a decent reception on everything, I just can't get 12266 H 29500 which includes sly sports new HD, ESPN America HD and CH 5 HD.

                              Have you any ideas please????
