Sky FTA Channels

Have just had sky + HD installed in the main room and asked the installer to run me a cable to a bedroom as there's no aerial feed into there.

My plan was to use a mates old Sky + box in order to receive the FTA channels. The box still has the old viewing card which has now been cancelled.

Ive hooked the box up but can only get ITV and Ch 4, no BBC etc - i thought id be at least able to get all of the terrestrial channels 1-5.

Anyone got any ideas as to why this is?

maybe the region settings are wrong...take the card out and try!

box comes from a mate round the corner, so it will be in the same region - ITV shows Tyne Tees which is where i'm at.

Tried to remove and reinsert card last night but still only ITV and Ch4 available, i could understand if Ch4 and Five were the missing ones, but to not have BBC stumps me?!

Suppose i can try without any card at all, as i should be able to pick BBC up then even without a card, yes?

goto chnl 941 i think it is...this is where the regional channels for bbc are..sorry if its a ~~~~ channel but the bbc regions are somewhere around there!

Make sure the LNB settings are all at default, it could be that you have a faulty LNB, can you try your HD box in the other room or the Sky+ in the main room?

lincsat - how do i get into LNB settings?

its a new quad LNB but i s'ppose it could be faulty, will try a box swap tonight.

thanks for the help - ended up plugging the box into the main room's feed which i knew worked and hey presto all FTA/FTV channels were accessible.

upon moving the box back to the bedroom and plugging back in, i connected only dish 1 input and managed to get all of the channels, connected the 2nd input and lost BBC momentarily but all now seems to be working okay.

Strange one, not really a clue what the problem was, as i'd already rechecked the aerial inputs a few times.

Maybe just the hard reboot thats sorted it?!
