    Motorised dish install

I plan to put up a motorised dish this summer. I should be able to complete the install no problem but just a bit of a novice when it comes to whats the best equipment to get...

I want the best possible dish and motor, but have no idea about size required, in my area will a 1.1m dish benefit me more than a 80cm dish, zone 1 or 2, really no idea about this, solid vs mesh dish...etc

Hope someone can fill in a few gaps for me....and get this bad boy up..

well, you never said where "your area" was or is, but generally speaking the bigger the dish the better

perhaps my guide here will help you ? http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums...-setup-301108/

also the sticky threads should help you too, especially those dealing with motorised dishes

I recently decided to go motorised and this is what I ended up buying, the dish is a 100cm gibertini aluminium, motor is dark motor superior & lnb is an inverto black ultra, all look to be good quality, I always spend ages reading up on stuff before I buy anything
when I saw the guy bringing the dish I thought oh F**k it looks massive

I've just put up a 90cm triax for fixed dish multi sat and thought exactly the same when the ****in thing was in the hallway. In fact I knew it had arrived when the missus sent me text saying are you ****in planning on guiding in aliens. I also used inverto black ultra lnb (only I used 4 twins)

Best advice I can give is if you can afford a gibby dish buy one of you can't triax should be given serious consideration but for lnb it has to be inverto black ultra. That's just my opinion so probably counts for nothing

I've a triax 88cm in Belfast and seem to be able to get most channels that those on the mainland can get.

What sats are you looking to pick up?

No idea really, looking to pick up as much as i can, just for the curiosity really. Football would be great plus i hear you can get some good movies on middle easy channels...

you are unlikely to get any "middle easy" channels, mainly because they are distributed to the middle east ! , especially from your location

There is more footie than you can shake a stick at using the main 4 euro birds. I think I counted just over 30 different games in the time it took me to go through channels on 13, 19 and 23e while setting up dish last weekend wife was well impressed not

Lol, first thing my wife said when she saw the TD110 was "are you taking the F****** P*** with that f****** dish, thats f****** ridiculous"

1m is about the biggest you can fit, you can go bigger but then you sometimes need planning permission depending where you live.

Gibertini, orbital and triax were all recommended to me, but I chose the triax, ?40 cheaper than the gibby, same price as the orbital, but I have been told by a couple of people that the triax will last longer, apparently the orbital sheds its coating.

Dark motor or TM T2600 motors, LNB has to be the black ultra.

The actual dish face may be OK but i can guarantee the rear bolts will rust, The gibertini will not rust as its Aluminium with Galvanised steel backplate and Nuts&Bolts Etc... the Orbital do not shed anything as they too also do an Aluminium dish face.

Thats why the Gibby is double the price one word 'Quality'

You may need planning permission if you go over either 90 or 100 cms.

I think you'll find everything you want with a 90cm dish. I pick up 13e, 19e no problem. I pick up 23e - not sure if I get all channels as I don't know what on that sat. I can get 5W and 1W. I was watching some Swedish football match on that at the weekend.

There 1000s of channel and I'm not sure I can see the wood for the trees.

If you want me to try a sat or channel, let me know.

Ive a 250m drum of delta rg6 cable, Ive used this for indoor runs and also 2 runs from the dish to upstairs. Ive not had any bother with it nor noticed any difference than whatever cable sky used to run to living room.

Obviously Im putting in a few quid to get a good setup, is it worthwhile to upgrade to wf100, or the shotgun wf65 cable
