Best easy to use box ?100-150??

I currently have the slybox f5 and looking to upgrade.

It is ONLY used for watching sly, and this is all I need.

I have looked into the Blade Media MB7000S and TECHNOMATE TM-5402 M2 HD CI+ SUPER+ which is best from experience? Or is there one like it that is better?

I am looking for something that will be easy to update (channel list etc) and would like a descent EPG if possible, although I understand on UK channels this is hard unless you get a linux box, but those take too much time to set up and upgrade/update.

    Thoughts please?

There is not much in it between the Blade7000 and the TM5402 both are very easy to use and both will give you 7 day EPG, out of the 2 the 5402 is slightly cheaper

As digicon says 7 day epg is just that. One thing to remember is that because epg is stored in Flash on box if you put the box into standby the epg won't be there when you turn it back on and you will have to populate it again which takes all of 30sec or so. Not that this is an issue my tm5402 hasn't been switched off in over a year

For ?135 delivered you can get a 800se estar with loads of E2 support. This gives you all the latest plugins including xbmc (work in progress) TSMEDIA with more and newer films than sly and netflux put together. You also get latest bouquets (channel lists 26/07/13) direct from TsPanel. The box is wifi fitted it has to worth a look at.

Ah ok great, will it download it by itself or will I need to do anything? I read somewhere about having to add a channel which contains the tv listing or something?

Also does it work well with setting recordings?

Works very well with setting recordings and you use a channel to download epg. When you get your box loaf one of my channel lists and you silk ser how it works. List will auto load to epg channel or you will find it in every set of favorites. Just select this channel to view then press the epg button and watch it populate. To make sure it has done all 7 days press the "i" button on remote then yellow to scroll through all 7 days

Ok sounds good, so would you have to go back to the channel every few days?

If you are leaving box on all the time once every 7 days (it's a 7 day epg) or after every channel list change or if box has gone into standby

If you install cross epg from tspanel you can configure it to auto update itself at say 0400 every day, that way you get full 7 days you can then set it to record just like a sly or vermin box.

But is this available on the above boxes?

Cross epg is only available on enigma 2 boxes the best of which at the minute are the vu+ range and of course dreambox. There are others available but the two mentioned have the biggest support

In the OP's original post and quote " Best and Easy Box to use for ?100-?150" in that i would not have placed any Enigma2 receiver, If the OP is familiar with FTP,Telnet commands then yes go ahead as E2 receivers are light years ahead of any closed source models but i would not class them as easy to use in any respect

Looking into it (enigma 2) I am interested in looking into getting one (Seen the Amiko 8900 for ?100 or Technomate Nano TM-Nano for ?130). I have used linux before (have basic knowledge) and FTP (worked with HTML and websites). I guess it's worth getting a cheapish one and teaching myself by looking at tutorials?

Once everything is installed, how easy is it to maintain. By easy I mean, is it time consuming when updating channel lists etc?
