Astra 2E to join 28.2e fleet...more channel chaos?

Astra 2E (currently nearing 43.5e for testing) will be joining the fleet at 28.2e over the next few weeks. It will eventually replace Astra 1N, which will shift over to 19.2e.

After just getting over the Astra/Eutelsat merry-go-round, expect more fun & games when mass channel changes occur again in a few weeks time!

I would not worry too much about this as the 2E was a planned change for 1N and possibly 2A due to its age and 1N moving to its original slot of 19.2? east.

It will carry the same Transponders so should be pretty painless and an instant swap like for like the only difference should be the Power so signal quality should improve especially on the older 2A transponders.

The Reason we had the Mass upset with Eutelsat losing to Astra was that Astra had to create new frequency's to accommodate there newly acquired channels.

I can not understand, when joining or separating fleet why does it upset channel frequencies is it because they add more channels or less channels??

Some may not change Main frequency but the SR could change slightly from a 27500 to 22000 etc.. one of the reasons for the long transfer i assume is to let $ly make sure there Official receivers are not disrupted and update without a hitch normally done during the Late evening Early morning.

Will we have to update our channel lists when these changes happen?

Im on a vu+ solo using catseyes settings with autobouquets running.

Or will autobouqets update it automatically. Cheers

This doesn't make sense to me. I've only been looking into the openbox/Enigma boxes for a little over 3 months, yet although I was worried about flashing the box and changing channel lists at 1st, I've become reasonably proficient with it because of reading all of your extremely informative posts. All it takes is a bit of time and common sense and away you go.

Unfortunately common sense and openbox section don't usually go together mate

this has been on other forums for days about it

                              January 31, 2014 08.53 Europe/London By Robert Briel

The Astra 2E satellite will enter into commercial service
in the orbital arc of 28.2/28.5 degrees East on February 1, 2014, its tightly focused beam causing consternation to British ex-pats in Spain. Over the coming weeks, BSkyB, Channel4, ITV and BBC programming will be
transitioned to the new satellite with its powerful footprint over the British Isles. Newspapers serving the British community in Spain are referring to the Great British Switch-off as residents worry about losing reception of the channels from the country they left behind. The satellite was launched on board an ILS Proton launch vehicle from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan on September 30, 2013.Extensive in-orbit tests have since then confirmed the satellite to be fully operational and performing to specifications. Astra 2E has now been deployed at its final destination in the orbital arc of 28.2/28.5 degrees East, where it is co-positioned with Astra 2A, Astra 2F and Astra 1N. The satellite was built for SES by Astrium of France. Based on the highly reliable Eurostar E3000 platform, the spacecraft carries 60 Ku-band transponders, including 12 incremental transponders for delivery of services outside Europe, as well as 4 Ka-band transponders.Astra 2E enables the delivery of next generation broadcast and broadband services in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Astra 2E, which had a launch mass of 6 tonnes, features a wingspan of 40m after its solar arrays have been deployed in orbit, and is designed to generate 13 kW of spacecraft power up to the end of its 15-year design lifetime.
